Chapter IX: Suspension of Schooling and Resumption of Study
Article 32: If a student, during their period of study, needs to take time off from classes or receive treatment and recuperation due to personal affairs or illness for a period exceeding one month, or amounting to one-third of the total class hours for a semester, they must apply for suspension of schooling.
Article 33: A student applying for suspension of schooling shall generally submit a written application to their secondary teaching unit, along with relevant supporting documents. After the secondary teaching unit has signed off on the application, it shall be submitted to the Student Affairs Office and the Academic Affairs Office for approval. If the secondary teaching unit or the university deems that a student should be suspended, the student's secondary teaching unit shall submit the approval materials to the Student Affairs Office and the Academic Affairs Office.
Suspension of schooling is generally limited to one year. Under special circumstances, an application may be made for a suspension of up to two years. If the student is still unable to resume study after the suspension period expires, they may, upon application by the student or the secondary teaching unit and upon approval, continue the suspension. For students who have been granted suspension, the maximum period of study shall not exceed the limit stipulated by the university.
Chapter XI: Educational System and Study Duration
Article 43: The educational system for full-time regular undergraduate programs at our university is generally four years (five years for special programs such as Architecture), and the educational system for full-time junior college-to-undergraduate programs is two years.
The educational system for full-time second bachelor's degree programs is two years. Students who fail to meet graduation requirements shall not have their study period extended, nor shall they be subject to a grade retention system.
Article 44: The maximum period of study (including suspension of schooling, grade retention, and re-study time after returning to campus following completion of coursework, but excluding military service time from the calculation of the period of study) shall not exceed twice the length of the educational system for the relevant program (with the exception of second bachelor's degree programs).
