how is that even relevant, you act like Faker comes from a privileged family. The guy grew up with a single father and lived in poverty. Sure, it's not as dramatic as s1mple, but you act like Faker hasn't gone through hardship either.

And fucking dramabaiting does not make s1mple a better gamer than Faker lol. Even at peak s1mple had a rival - Zywoo. (not necessarily better, but someone who cane very close) Faker literally had no one to match his skill at his peak, that's how dominant he was.

He always had to to play with shit players in a shitty enviorment, against the greatest team of all time, had his peak when there were no majors, has been in the conversation for best player in the world for 6 years, and has improved every single year.

Faker also had to deal with shit players too. Guess where he got with them? Worlds grand finals in 2018. Literally solocarried a shit team to finals.

He was the reason SKT was the greatest team of all time as well.

"Had his peak when there were no majors" okay how does this in any way shape or form make s1mple better than Faker lol, just makes things more dramatic.

"In conversation for best player for the past 6 years" Literally Faker has been a top 10 player/midlaner for the entirety of his career lol, the longevity Faker has is unmatched, even by s1mple.

"And has improved every single year" ok buddy, you literally have no idea what you're talking about. Faker has also improved every single year. Faker literally changed his entire playstyle from hypercarry to supportive playmaker and still gets not only results, but great performances.

Reading what you wrote it just seems like you think s1mple is the better player solely because you like his story. That's it. No other reason at all. You can like him for that but it doesn't make him the better player lol.

His Yone was crazy, but I did not see Chovy put his team on his back and consistently carry and come up clutch like Zeka has done since Playins.

The story begins with Deft.

This guy is not only a pro player, he actually came from the same high school as the GOAT Faker. He has had insane performances in his role, arguably Top 2 in his role in history.
He has won pretty much everything there is to win in League, except for 1 trophy: Worlds.

Within recent years Deft has always gotten knocked out in Quarters, and as he grows older, he has less time to play. He will have to serve in the military soon.

What's more, his opponents, EDG, were his old team. Scout and Meiko were two of his old teammates, and they won Worlds last year. To Deft, this is more personal. He's happy they won, but sad he wss not there with them when they did.

DRX are also notorious for not making it past Semis. Before Worlds, they did not have many expectations as the LCK's lowest seed and their players were not the best even within the region.

This game had a LOT riding on it.
Game 1: DRX take a lead, but due to some lategame misplays, EDG take the game.

Game 2: DRX once again take a lead, but BARELY lose due to a fraction of a second, that costs them the game. (Basically, Deft was about to win the game but a structure respawned that made him unable to destroy the enemy base by just one mouse click)

Game 3 & 4: DRX are on elimination point, but somehow claw back wins.

Game 5: DRX's midlaner, Zeka, pops the fuck off and solokills Scout not once, not twice, not even thrice, but FOUR times and picks up a Quadra to end the game.

This is the 2nd time a reverse sweep has happened ever. Over 10+ years of Worlds.

Oh, and did I forget to mention it's also Deft's birthday?

bro this guy talks more about CS than Valorant lmao

a far easier game

...wat? based off player numbers alone league is a "harder" game, but putting that aside they are not even similar games at all. One is MOBA one is FPS...?

had a good team

Which is why Faker always seemed to make it to Semis every time even with different teams every time?

You are coping. And also know nothing about League.

Faker is so good and has been so good that a lot of teams had the single strategy of just perma camping him so he couldn't do anything. Yet the guy soaked up all that pressure and still became relevant in the late game.

S1mple is the GOAT of CS, but not as many people play CS compared to League of Legends, that's just a fact. You can argue even that the lifetime of a league pro is shorter than CS as well, and Faker has been in the scene for so long his teammates have become his coaches. No matter how good you are, there is always some cracked Chinese/Korean zoomer who is more desperate to play and more talented than you are. The League eSports landscape in Korea and China is too big.

Doesn't help that Worlds literally has the shittiest major tournament format ever. Single elimination playoff bracket.

Faker has been the face of the world's biggest eSports for almost 10 years, he has no scandals, controversies, while being one of the top competitors in the game. Not to mention not only does he play the game well, SKT's coaching staff were picked so that Faker could discuss strategies and the vision of the game with them.

In a sense, he is like Lionel Messi where he rose to fame through pure physical talent, but with age, transitioned to a playmaking/supportive role. Faker is also captain of his team, and from what I've read it seems like he has a lot of input in coaching as well.

yeah, only the most passionate make it through. even raw talent is not enough, from my experience

posted about 2 years ago

likewise man, DRX definitely learned how to deal with aggressive teams through scrimming with PRX

posted about 2 years ago

what was cool though was that we saw PRX homebrewed strats, super aggressive and fast paced. they really proved they could do fine without DRX scrim partnership

posted about 2 years ago

well, it was moreso the PRX bandwagoners who forgot DRX's legacy. it was nice to see PRX players and staff respect them, calling them DaddyRX

posted about 2 years ago

eh. I've scrimmed up to tier 2 teams without really feeling a limit. i just don't think I could handle the grind, and I'm not consistent enough to put up great performances day in day out. I've been in aimduels with a lot of pro players, from tier 1 to tier 2, and never felt straight up diffed. they are better at me at positioning, timing, util usage, lots of stuff, but I don't think the gap is so wide that I'll be diffed every time. I've held my own so far. i obviously have only experienced ranked though, not pro play, which is where they will 99% shitstomp me.

i think im just the average ranked demon, sorta. not good enough to be pro, and like I said, if I ever have the delusion to try, I will prob spend 18 hours a day practicing only to be low tier 2

even when I was in the amateur pro scene I could tell that there is a huge af gap in mentality. tier 3/tier 2 is no joke and I would not last in that environment mentally

posted about 2 years ago

yeah, i mean tbh, it's deserved for SEA fans, they needed a team like PRX to root for, and PRX did really well at both Masters. Helps that they were so likable too. It was nice to see that DRX still deserved respect, and just because we finished 5th-6th both times doesn't mean we were terrible like some users made it out to be.
