I'm a strong advocate for referring to Brazilian Portuguese as "Brazilian."

If people call the United States of America "America," why couldn't they call Brazilian Portuguese "Brazilian?"

i dont think it works

It's incredible how much identity politics shapes our thinking, not just "woke identity politics" but identity politics in general. We constantly label ourselves even though we are individually unique. In the end, our individual richness turns into a convenient stereotype that hardly reflects who we truly are.

Gen Z is overrated, by the way

I agree, Miniboo is the anti-Aspas.

Aspas – an insanely talented player with many titles and plenty of aura.

Miniboo – a mediocre player with zero titles and zero aura.

EMEA is historically accustomed to international teams, so your comparison is essentially saying that the exception is the rule.

Aspas has never lost a direct duel against Demon1 in the 6 matches they have played.

Will that finally change?

I recommend Mother of Learning, the best western webnovel in my opinion.

Basic is insane. He would probably be MIBR's choice if it weren't for the visa issue.

They didn’t sacrifice themselves for random strangers; they sacrificed themselves for no one. I don’t hate sacrifices, but only when they make logical/narrative sense, like (spoiler) Klein’s sacrifice in LOTM.

Their sacrifice didn’t make sense there. Believe me, if they had stayed inside the ship to help maintain internal order and external security for MILLIONS of people, they would have saved far more lives than those supposed five.

Of course, there’s the whole moral dilemma about them taking away the opportunity from five innocent people, but even that doesn’t convince me. I mean, there are millions of people inside the ship, it’s unrealistic that they couldn’t handle five more.

Anyway, I barely even remember that part of the story anymore since I dropped that novel years ago. By the way, if you like western web novels, I recommend Mother of Learning to you. The protagonist’s morality in Learning is similar to Sunny’s in the sense that they try their best to save innocents, but it’s much less irritating and makes way more narrative sense.

I read up to chapter 1200 and dropped it.

The novel isn't bad, but the MC's personality made me lose the desire to continue. Of course, it wasn't the only reason, but that decision to (spoiler) commit suicide along with his friends/team members, instead of taking 5 spots on a ship that could fit millions of people, was the last straw.

I miss seeing Aspas on a true super team. After he left LOUD, the performance gap between him and the team's second-best player became an abyss.

This could have changed this year with him joining G2, but unfortunately, the LEV contract prevented that.

posted 5 months ago

Unfortunately, this is almost impossible for stage 1 due to visa issues.

Lol, what a coincidence, we posted almost identical content at the same time

It's very hard to predict anything about Americas. I can see any team from Tier A or B going far in the Americas bracket. Furia, being a Tier B team, is a hot take, but I've decided to trust this team one last time.

Derke masters Madrid?

posted 5 months ago

You got all wrong.

An excellent bait is lies mixed with the truth, 2/8

posted 5 months ago

Following your logic (which I disagree with), it would be valid for Kingg to be below Derke, but it still doesn’t make sense for him to be 13 spots lower.

posted 5 months ago

Ok, Derke had better stats internationally, which is a valid argument.

However, Kingg had much better performances regionally and achieved better results internationally, all while being a Flex/IGL. The gap between them in your ranking doesn’t make sense.

posted 5 months ago

Is that your argument?

posted 5 months ago

Your list is one of the worst I've ever seen. The pro-Derke bias is insane.

Just so we have something to debate, how is Kingg ranked much lower than Derke in 2024 when he had better results and more relevant stats?

posted 5 months ago

Every time I see a comment saying 'Aspas > Derke', which is a very reasonable opinion, it gets flooded with downvotes.

Why does this happen? I don't see the same thing happening when people say 'Derke > Aspas'

Like I said a few months ago, Jawgemo is by far the most overrated player in the world. He’s a good player, but nowhere near the world-class entry duelist that NA fans were trying to hype up

Jawgemo is a good player, but he has never been the star player on any of his teams. He tried to be that on EG, but it didn't work out.

I made a similar one, but it wasn’t bait: https://www.vlr.gg/432835/is-jawgemo-the-most-overrated-player/

People underestimate how much mentality and experience can affect the team as a whole.

No problem, this is a very common mistake to make.

After all, there’s this narrative that Aspas wasn’t even the best player on LOUD 22, where people use the Champions stats as "proof."

posted 5 months ago

Aspas was arguably LOUD's best player in 2022. The only time the dispute was between him and Less was in 2023, not 2022.
