If you don't have access to the source code there's no way to know, and in the descriptions of the abilities, it isn't listed how the turret actually works. Your point about grim walls is true, this is a riot's game they know what they coded in or not. It's up to them how the game is intended to be played, and they still leave mechanics like super dashing and exploit cams in the game because it's hard to patch, but it's still not allowed in the VCT.
