Its a big ? for me that they basically immediately went for him, maybe they saw something in him or he clicked with the players, idk

I honestly think vitality knew derke didnt want to join any other team and since they were the only option on the table they tried lowballing a bit because fnc wouldnt want to pay derkes salary all year

posted 10 months ago

i understand why people here think boaster is terrible mechanically and all that but its really curious to me that some started disliking him so much because of this that in their own headcanon he is the one who personally kicked out derke

Make random T2 team sign Derke, then make that team your affiliate and move Derke to vitality main roster

What if they’re theoretically interested in buying and trading with fnatic? lolz

Have you watched VCT? Do you know that plenty of regionals have the prize of qualification for internationals across multiple placements? Similar to how ascension can result in multiple placements having qualification to vct as a prize? Do you believe champs should only have one team per region playing, since it would be unfair to hand out qualifications to losers.

The slot is meant for the best T2 teams of their respective region. With SPG ascending to T1, Boom is the best T2 team in apac. They did not just hand it over, they handed it over to the team that was second in apac ascension. Any other team could have been second in apac ascension. Any other team had their shot at beating Boom and they missed it, why would they deserve another chance?

I really hope you realize how non-sensical your argument is and just dont want to admit it. Because this a concerning level of stupidity.

"Esports is about winning these tournaments annd winning prizes and just handing away one of those prizes to a team that didn’t win just doesn’t feel right."

I hate to tell you this but there is plenty of tournaments where not only the first place has winnings? Bleeds disqualification only meant that the prize now goes to first and second in ascension, as the first and second best teams are the oines supposed to be ascending... Boom proved that they are better than every team besides SPG at ascension.

Your argument that other teams got close to beating SPG is pointless, because SPG qualified from upper bracket. Boom beat DSG, Boom beat Riddle, Boom beat Full Sense...
They only ever lost to SPG, and the only teams they did not beat were teams that were pretty much immediately eliminated. You cant make any argument for another team potentially being better than Boom when they beat all of those other teams. If you run another tournament now you have a bunch of unprepared and incomplete Teams scrambling to win that will tell you nothing about the teams actual potential.

Doy you think oct 7th is actually gonna be as crazy as lots of people assume? I fear we will see a handful of announcements at best tbh

posted 10 months ago

The 7th isnt gonna be a deadline for rosters. It simply the first date on which teams are allowed to actually hand out contracts. Loads of teams wont have their full roster together until much later.

posted 10 months ago

Yeah its a bit of an odd one. In a way it makes the most sense as they clearly arent set on a roster yet and are one of the few orgs that actually do have the finances to sign someone like aspas. Aditionally they have on open international spot and should be an english speaking roster. But from last years and this years rumored moves it also seems like they just kind of accepted that they wont be a title competitor in VCT. Perhaps they will reconsider if an opportunity like this arises.

The reason why Im wondering about how "locked" some of the agreements are is that teams like NAVI or FNC would technically be able to fit Aspas if they are willing to/able to kind of "undo" the agreements with the players they were looking at.

posted 10 months ago

This would only make sense if the scandal was about Bleed cheating to win Ascension. Scarz was not impacted because Bleed beat them and met the requirements last season. They were beaten by Bleed just as fair and square as boom was beaten by spg. It only makes sense to ascend the current 2 best tier 2 orgs.

posted 10 months ago

I agree. I think EMEA teams have more free spots and are more likely to make way for a player than Americas right now, while most APAC teams would be struggling to fit or pay for Aspas. I also think it matters how set some of the leaked agreements are though. There is a non zero chance that there is teams with verbal agreements to a player that might reconsider now, idk.

Just gotta pull out a few small business loans, ez money hack

posted 10 months ago

Exactly, but from the rumors Ive heard (obviously should be taken w a grain of salt, but there is multiple somewhat credible leakers talking about this) Fnatic is making it hard on teams willing to purchase Derke (not sure if this is just them straight up refusing the sale, or making it hard for other orgs through other means). This type of stuff should never happen. Putting an entire season for any player, especially of Derkes caliber in jeopardy is just awful.

posted 10 months ago

With the amount of Drama going on in VCT this off season, I am really questioning what Riot is doing and why they insisted on a franchised League. It seems pretty clear that Riot either lacks insight into the Orgs, or lacks appropriate regulations.

For example, if rumors about the Derke situation are indeed true, I do not understand why a VCT team should have the power to deny a players transfer even though the other org is willing to pay the buyout and the player agrees to the roster move. The fact that orgs have the possibility of jailing players in order to eliminate competition is detrimental to competitive integrity.

Aditionally, its not acceptable that orgs fail to play their players properly and on time. Situations like Bleeds or BBLs should never be possible in a franchised league. Riot needs to demand proof of salaries etc. from orgs.

There is no point in a franchised league if its barely any more regulated then an open format, no?

Loud is about to reunite in EU somehow

posted 10 months ago

I think you just missed my point then lol. Chances are players are going to be more hesitant to stay on a team after knowing they mistreated a player recently.

posted 10 months ago

Okay? And when his contract expires in 2025 fnatic will not try to re-sign him? What exactly is your point my brother

posted 10 months ago

Even from a pure business standpoint, the PR disaster of keeping a superstar player on your bench because you want to increase your chance of winning cant be worth it. I just do not understand why they made a roster move when they are clearly anything but confident in their decision. It’s just spineless tbh. Also I’m sure that, if this is actually true, players like Leo will definitely think twice before resigning with this org. It just doesn’t make sense.

posted 10 months ago

Have always been a fan of FNC but this is just sad to watch. Not only are they doing Derke dirty by replacing him with a player that is probably not going to be better than him, but then they also sabotage his upcoming season. I cant support an org like this.
