Not to mention that the GC circuit is somewhat counterproductive for players that are a part of it getting to the top level tbh. They are generally incentivized to stay within the GC environment imo

I think since there are less women that are interested in competing in professional Valorant, it is much less likely that any will, on top of the biological advantages men have (reaction time etc).
NOTE: These biological advantages are not super meaningful like they are in sports, I still think that in theory a woman could compete at the top level of Valorant, just much less likely due to the smaller player pool.

TEC IS MAKING PLAYOFFS BAAANG

posted 3 months ago

The international tournaments teams don’t get much prep time between games and the level of play doesn’t drop off at all. I think ur heavily overestimating the amount of time in between games teams need

A singular leaf?

posted 3 months ago

Who was it lol

posted 3 months ago

Surely there are 3 indian players decent enough to be a mid team if they get good imports

posted 3 months ago

Surely the partnerships are just for Americas/EMEA/Pacific and then teams can pick themselves from there

posted 3 months ago

Presumably a team can switch subregions at whim though no? What would prevent this (I don't personally have a problem with teams switching)

posted 3 months ago

All 5 of those teams would make playoffs out of either EMEA group

posted 3 months ago

Well yeah that’s kinda why I’m saying it’s virtue signaling for them to care abt this while doing EWC (also gambling/alcohol sponsors)

posted 3 months ago

Yeah I agree with this actually, would be genuinely a great idea

posted 3 months ago

Saudi money I think would be the defining factor for this (personally I think riot/the esports scene should stop virtue signaling abt this)

posted 3 months ago

TSM is broke, falcons are owned by Saudi govt which is against riots partnership requirements (twisted minds almost certainly has some sort of govt money as well), weibo im not sure though

posted 3 months ago

Yeah but my point is that the tier 2 teams that don’t make the cup literally are just gonna sit on their ass and do nothing while waiting for the next round of quals

posted 3 months ago

I more mean organizers like ESL and BLAST, because presumably they would have ran some Val tournaments if riot let them

posted 3 months ago

So the open qualifiers are for each separate stage of the cup or what. Not sure exactly how that would work, it seemed like the cup just replaced the stage 1/2

posted 3 months ago

Not sure what u mean by this

posted 3 months ago

I think a tournament circuit is good, but some of the ways they’re choosing to implement it here are not great (particularly online open quals that even the partner teams have to play)

posted 3 months ago

Tbh I disagree with it being better than what we have. I think it could be better, but the potential for it to be worse is very real imo

posted 3 months ago

I don’t think that’ll happen, riot seem to be very picky with 3rd party organizers as we see with league and vct so far.

posted 3 months ago

I could see a world where this new system is actually worse for t2. Like if a team doesn’t make it to the cup (and let’s be real it’ll be mostly t1 teams that do), what is there for those teams to do? Presumably there won’t be many 3rd party tourneys so the teams that don’t make the cup are just gonna jork it on the sidelines for a few months waiting for the next round of opens?

posted 3 months ago

Not personally a huge fan of open qualifiers that every team has to play in, but it’s gonna be the only way if riot wants complete control of the system

posted 3 months ago

If you ask any cs pro player, the worst part of the entire calendar was when they used to do online open qualifiers for the major. Online games against randos can be very high variance and if the good teams have to go through them many could get knocked out. I think this is the main downside to this system

posted 3 months ago

Uhh they’ve won international tournaments with 2 completely different groups of 5 Korean players I think they’ll be fine bud

Anything by neck deep, but the album “life’s not out to get you” is their best stuff. (Pop punk band)

Just saw this now, great take. I think that EDG has basically "fluked" (I use this term very loosely) their way to every international since champs 2024 that they've been to simply due to them having a massive experience/clutch gap over every other Chinese team. I really hope that they crash and burn this year, if they make London or Champs after the shit show that was kickoff and Santiago (and another weird ass roster change on top of that), China is truly cooked because this team should NOT be going to LANs currently

posted 3 months ago

EDG, won champs then spent an entire year barely making the internationals and bombing out in horrific fashion every time

posted 3 months ago

DRG wins this my stock in XLG is at an all time low. (If XLG and EDG make the international China is cooked forever)
