Most pro contracts do have a severance cut though, its why you often see players benched instead of dropped because a benched player they can pay a reduced salary while in most cases if they want to drop a player they have fully pay out their contract or find another org to buy out their contract. So are orgs just supposed to keep players who underperform no matter how bad they do? That's unfair to the org who's whole goal is trying to get to internationals and competing.
