I have a Nasi Goreng story.
So like many South Australians i took a leap year before uni and wanted to go to SEA and do some photography and hiking etc. So i booked the cheapest one way flight to Borneo I could and Backpacked everywhere. Anyway, i found my way to a town called Tajan. Tajan was on a river, don't know what river and I went to this sketchy hole-in-a-wall shop and ordered some Nasi Goreng, ong this was the best thing I'd ever eaten. any way, there was a pretty big island on the river which had a hiking trail, and I decided to go on the hiking trail the following day. When i was at the Apex of the trail i just vomited all of the delicious Rice out (Apparently It wasn't good for me) anyway I went back to the shop and told the cook I had gotten sick, and he said "Oh! Oh! Oh no! Here! here's a free rice, just for you" xD That was a highlight.
Theres an indian place in Adelaide called "Samrat Tandoori" and that place has the BEST daal makhani on the planet. I lived in Delhi for 2 years and nothing topped the food this place does, I know the owner personally and cook for them once a month. Theres nothing like going to a restuarant you love, being served by a person close to you and eating a food you love.
Daal makhani is that soul food for me, It's something that I eat all the time and was the last meal my father cooked for me. I will never forget this food. Honestly, I suck at cooking it, but omg i love it.
Also it's healthy!
