there is no such thing as deserving to go, there is no perfect world where everyone's matchups are the same level of difficulty. either you qualify or you don't

g2 takes this but bunny will farm top level content

this is a reddit-tier take

i remember checking live tweets during iceland and it was almost entirely japanese fans, i was shocked that there were so many fans considering how csgo was super niche in jp.

they have a really solid playerbase and the community is really invested in esports, it may take a few years but i confidently think japan will be competitive with the top regions eventually as they grow

that's unfortunate, lots of my friends are league fans but they still enjoy watching the big val events

there isn't much you can do when the tournament is strictly designed for a 16 team format and then a team suddenly drops out. only so much you can change on short notice without destroying competitive integrity, and i think the double round robin was a decent solution to the issue

it's not like there are only negatives to this either, in a double round robin the influence of an upset is reduced and its much more likely that the two BEST teams in the group will be moving on. there's way less randomness to account for. also, each team is already aware ahead of time exactly who they're going to be playing. there isn't any uncertainty regarding matchups, and they don't need to prepare for an extra team

it's not a perfect situation. but it's also not like having to play one more series is RUINING their chances at berlin

posted about 2 years ago

double round robin is actually better for competitive integrity because it reduces the chance of upset and increases the odds that the two best teams in the group move on. kinda sucks tho bc i thought f4q had a decent shot at making it through the original format but this is gonna be hard

dr disrespect lmao

"As a result [of BREN not making it] the format of of Group D will pivot to a double round robin"

So basically each team in group D will be playing against each other twice, aka (order is just an example)
g2 vs sen
g2 vs f4q
sen vs f4q
repeat

and the two teams with the better winning record are moving on

i had f4q making it out of groups, but with this format i think it favors g2 way more tbh :( unlucky

outstanding support player throughout majority of his career. he always played the bitch role, supported his teammates, did his job. his stats were never crazy because he never took the role of the star rifler

tons of cs pros call rush one of the best teammates they've ever had. guy is definition of selfless

this isn't a hot take his historical stats are objectively better. and shahzam is a significantly better awper

realistically they wouldn't stand a chance against nuturn with 10x either lol. SA fans should be happy if they get a series win against any of the non kr teams tbh. that's a win for the region imo, anything more is expecting too much

posted about 2 years ago

how do people still think tenz the best jett, he's not even the best jett on his team ROFL

posted about 2 years ago

nuturn are smart to capitalize on this now. they have an actual star in the making to work around. this guy is different

they're not really hyping them up this time around. scared of the zika yaknow

tldr: f0rsaken, bunny, starxo, heat, ethan, nats

they're a really strong team made of solid individual talent. unlike most teams where they usually have a weak link mechanically (because of the igl) vision striker's igl is arguably their best player as well. i don't even know who i'd call their "worst player" because they're all really even in skill

Nuturn at iceland had huge holes in their team. peri and solo (was good on ascent tho) clearly had a hard time keeping up, and allow/suggest were inconsistent as hell. to put it into perspective, nuturns best player, lakia, is currently only playing for VS on one map

i don't think their strategic depth is anything crazy but they definitely understand how to play the game at a higher level

since hot takes are more entertaining i'll just say i think vs are gonna smash both emea teams. we'll see how things go.

editing was fine and music choice is good

just work on getting better quality clips, nobody wants to see 4 body shot kills or slow awp shots

posted about 2 years ago

the point was that this wouldn't really apply to a tank main that tried to go pro in valorant lol. (of course there are exceptions)

posted about 2 years ago

playing DPS in ow is much more mechanically demanding than any role you could play in csgo or valorant, you will never need that level of 360 degree flicking or tracking in a tactical fps. BUT

the two games are too different for their skills to transfer over reliably. while people like to pretend csgo and val are totally different games, they are functionally the same at the basic level. the skills that are rewarded first and foremost are your game sense, positioning, crosshair placement, and spatial awareness. quick flicks come later, and tracking is just altogether unnecessary

i wont even mention how fundamentally different val and ow are strategically, that's a whole another thing where ow pros have to literally remap how they view the game down to timing, map awareness, communication, etc. while these qualities are all basically 1:1 to cs.

solid dps mains would definitely do fine in valorant mechanically, we have players like corey and sinatraa who are obviously very skilled. but they had their own learning curves to overcome when they started that a experienced csgo player wouldn't even have to think about.

pretty sure it was leaked that there would be 3 bo3s played per day, no source tho so could totally be wrong

posted about 2 years ago

underdog story is always more entertaining. i feel nothing towards the SEA teams as i don't watch them but I would definitely still be excited to see them make it out of groups and do well in playoffs

generally my support goes from
favorite team > "underdog teams" > teams im neutral about > the favorites to win > teams i dislike (dont really have any at berlin)

NA, EU, KR, BR, LATAM, and APAC all have ranked leaderboards.

posted about 2 years ago

i mean what else do you want him to say? "yeah if a team of 5 of the best NA csgo players still in their prime were to switch to valorant, eh, they'd be okay."
like huh? yeah they would eventually be the best? what else would you expect lol

posted about 2 years ago

you're too stuck on the games being compared. I don't care what game you play, whether you're playing csgo or quake arena LMAO

it's not about the medium. it's about standing out from your contemporaries. s1mple and zywoo are players that are going to be immortalized in fps history because they transcend the game. they are on another level compared to their rivals.

tenz is a strong player that has proved to be one of the best. but he does not stand out. he is not a mold breaker. he is not a legend of the game. he's just a top tier player among a sea of other top tier players. the game is young, he has time to build a legacy. but it's not even close to existing yet.

posted about 2 years ago

i remember back in the csgo days people would say the same thing about Shroud. some things never change.

posted about 2 years ago

I find it weird how hard people try to push the narrative that valorant and csgo are so different that you can't compare the players. especially when someone like tenz has probably 10x the playtime in cs than he has in valorant. tenz is not a beast because he has some incredible skill that is specific to valorant, he's amazing because of his insanely fine tuned mechanics he had built up from his career in csgo rofl

it's hardly arrogant to compare a player that has displayed a prodigial level of skill literally transcending the game, showing that even at the highest level there is another tier of gameplay. to a player that is very skilled! but really doesn't stand out from his peers in a visible way.

the dota example you use is super disingenuous and makes it sound like you're just angry and arguing in bad faith. even trying to make analogies between games as wildly different as mobas and tac fps is just ridiculous lol.

when you have a once in a generation talent like s1mple or zywoo, it's pretty blatantly obvious their talents would translate over to a game where t2 csgo pros are easily able to convert their skills and flourish.

this part is gonna upset some people but when i see people compare tenz to talents like s1mple, zywoo, device, etc. it reminds me of indian fans comparing skrossi to tenz LOL

posted about 2 years ago

if they have a few months to adapt, then obviously not. i'm not the type to circlejerk about "XD tenz shit in csgo" bc he wasn't bad, he was an average pro with lots of potential. but the top of the top eu cs players are just a dimension away from him in skill, they're just not even comparable as tac fps players
