I made my points on the assumption that riot has already decided on splitting (judging by the tweets rhetoric, it sounds like they are deadset on at least a major revamp of the americas league)

also, since riot is a business and the VCT is the product, either on r/valcomp or somewhere here, i read someone say that its not in riot's interest to move the league to, for example, Mexico (probably best geographical location for both NA and SA), because they already have all the infrastructure in LA and it would be really expensive to move everything there
Think about it, they either need to build a new "Riot Games Arena" in Mexico City from scratch (mega expensive) or rent/buy a semi big warehouse and renovate it to fit the needs (slightly less expensive but still a lot)
Plus, they would have to organise all the teams moving from LA to MX, it would also be hella expensive

But I kinda like the NA - SA groups idea, i think thats what they should do, its the easiest and least expensive option so we might get to see something like this

if you are going to split leagues, 5 teams per region is WAY too little. Theres gonna be either 20 repeat matchups or the league will last 2 weeks with 1 week playoffs and in 2 years fans will be crying about their region playing 5 games a year

IMO, 10 teams minimum (8 franchised orgs - 2 ascension slots) in each region
Then for tourney slots:
M1: 1 NA, 1 SA (winner of each grandfinal = finals would actually have good viewership with so much on the line)
M2: 1 NA, 1 SA (winner of each GF) + 1 slot from interregional match (maybe losers of each grandfinal?)
Champs: 1 NA, 1 SA, 1 slot from interregional match + 1 extra slot for the region whose top 2 team has more championship points (lets say, top 2 NA is SEN with 14 pts, top 2 SA is LEV with 12 pts = SEN goes champs as NA 2nd seed, if SA won the NA vs SA game, or 3rd seed if NA won it)
