Can someone explain to me why China has only 3 slots for EWC? I always thought it would be 4 for each region. But China has 3 and EMEA gets 5?
I understand TH won last year so they automatically qualify and Vitality takes the '#1' seed (even though they came second). That's cool and all but why does EMEA still get 3 more slots after TH and VIT?
I know some tournaments (not esports) use bud allocation systems where the strongly performing regions get more slots whereas poorer regions get lesser. China got grouper last EWC. Is this the reason? Or is there something published as to why the slots are distributed this way?
So I had this really dumb q - We keep seeing that after round wins or important rounds the teams are hype and they yell NICE or whatever they yell. That makes sense to me when they're really hyped and after a really intense fight or close clutch or whatever.
But what about after winning an important round but the last 30 seconds of the round is just the opponents saving and there's not as much action going on or whatever for them to yell. We still see player cam replays of them yelling - but do they do it after the round has officially ended or after they know they're saving or whatever? It just seems odd that they'd wait for 30 secs doing nothing and then all yell
lmao ik its stupid, dont ask me why i thought about it
I haven't seen alott of matches (not alot of apac or cn) but is it just me or is EMEA looking hella strong this year?
As a region EMEA seems stronger than americas. The only team that has actually convinced me is G2. I know furia is first seed and everyone's been sleeping on them but i still think they beat an off-form G2 and Mibr havent looked good at all since beating nrg. They are still amazing but idk if i can put them higher than g2 or on a level compared to the emea teams.
Can someone tell me if apac looks just as good and dominant?
Overall really entertaining and close games in emea
Damn, was it in Portuguese or english? and do you have an approx time stamp or which part of which map he said that ?
Idk what it is but having seen BBL, M8 and FNC, G2 the last 2 days (haven't seen any other games), just the way these teams take fights is on a diff level comapred to MIBR. I know that's only a part of the game but still.
When the above 4 teams have info about an isolated opponent they make sure multiple people swing/jump such that they peek at the same time at diff angles/heights. I don't see MIBR doing that at all or nearly as much. If they do jump, its more like a jump spot (which still kinda helps their teammate peeking with them but not as much). It's as if they all wanna play for their own lives and this half-jump peek is just doing the bare minimum for the team while also keeping themselves alive. Idk whether to call that baiting or not but just seems fundamentally disconnected. Seems odd for a team of this caliber
which is what op said, they are playing each other to secure atleast 4th
NRG twitter just posted this
https://x.com/NRGgg/status/1955350529401561342?t=pIixgJDuSZTMn1raND4IiA&s=19
Can someone explain this to me?
Considering they started the stage with 2 points. Even if they win their next match (+ the additional conditions of loud beating mibr) but then lose out in playoffs - they don't have enough points to make it to the top 4 in championship points (I say top 4 cause if sen and G2 make GF then #3 and #4 in championship points would qualify I think).
How does their post make sense?
In an unlikely scenario where Lev and EG make GF, NRG wouldn't make champs. And there seems to be many more scenarios where they don't make it either.
Can someone explain if I'm wrong or something
Oh damn wtf, do you have a link or anything I can search to read more?
Does anyone know why XLG dropped YOU? From what I see they won CN with him and then changed their roster after that. They lost to DRX and PRX in the exhibition tournament or whatever it was. Did they mention why the roster change?
Can someone explain stage 2 to me?
Idk if I'm wrong but in the last 2 years - wasn't it the same groups in stage 1 and stage 2? and across both stages you play every other team in the league exactly once (excluding playoffs)?
why is it different this year? and do these new groups mean we can see rematches? what is the point of this?
I haven't read any announcement or explanation from riot now or earlier in the season so I am completely lost. can someone explain this to me?
Yea but its just amazing that he doesn't let anything get to him when there's a lot of factual firepower from his haters
What I've noticed and I'm sure many have as well is that throughout this year - through their wins and losses both - Sacy's fragging has been underwhelming. No question at all that he's an excellent teammate and his util usage to help the team has been amazing and he's been a big part of their success.
But today was just phenomenal seeing him towards the top of the leaderboard and it's actually crazy with the tough last few months he had in and out of the game that he kept his mental and pulled off this insane performance with many clutches
yea no apparently it hadn't updated correctly when I checked. it said only 20% had 5 points and 80% had 0
Nahhhh how does like 80% of like 55,000 people have sen beating gen g??? I'm a sen fan but come on with both these 2 teams' forms, its INSANE to have sen winning.
edit: nvm it hadn't updated correctly
So I've been a fan of SEN since early 2021. I also immediately liked DRX early 21 (when they were Vision Strikers) and thought they were quite underrated compared to the rest of the world.
Being a fan of these 2 teams I've noticed that these 2 teams are virtually opposites of each other. Both of these teams can not perform well at the same time.
In 2021, Sen and VS were the biggest names in their regions with almost total domination. However, when it came to masters Reykjavik '21 where sentinels were unstoppable, VS choked and didn't qualify for the first international LAN - while sen dominated and won.
Since Masters Reykjavik 2021 till about early 2024, Sen have been absolutely terrible while VS/DRX showed their worth over these 2.5 years. While they have choked multiple times and lost to the underdogs - they've established themselves as a consistent 4th-5th place team in the world, which is still quite impressive.
Coming to this year - Sen shocked everyone with their return to dominance in the year while DRX's new roster disappointed many with their poor performance in the first half of the season - not qualifying to a single international event.
Now, even more recently as sen was performing well in groups, drx was a bit shaky losing to zeta and rrq. Then after that when sen started losing to g2 and later 100t, drx out of nowhere surprises everyone defeating prx in lower finals and currently performing better than expected against gen g.
Just doesn't seem like both these teams can perform at the same time
No pro team will ever (especially a top team) feel scared to play another team lol. They think they're the best and will never throw to make their route easier
Okay so is the reason for that cause - even if 100t and sen are tied - sen go through based on reg season h2h?
Okay fuck this game
With this loss this puts
lev - 12 points
sen - 12
100t - 12
g2 - 10
kru - 8? (I didn't bother to check on them tbh)
So as long as 100t lev qualify - Sen are through.
Lev will basically 100% make it. 100T need to beat either G2 or Kru.
*On another note - I'm not sure what the tiebreaker is for tied champ points. Someone on vlr told me its the regular season matchup that counts as h2h if points are tied. Meaning that even if 100t lose out - sen would still make champs even though points are tied. Can anyone confirm if this is true? Is it most recent H2h result or reg season result?
Edit: Mb apparently Lev just needs to win?
is there any official comm on this? I saw curry's tweet and shit but is there a stream or anything from anyone on sen?
and what if h2h is a tie or something? Like say during the league team 1 beats team 2 but in playoffs team 2 beats team 1. Is it the most recent one that counts?
Could anyone explain what the tiebreaker is for two teams with the same number of champ points? Obviously for the team that has to qualify - so for ex APAC.
Ignore PRX GenG and DRX but talon has tied points with TS rn. If talon get eliminated from playoffs with no more wins - how is this tie settled? Based on head to head or whoever goes furthest in the split?
I know that Talon has already qualified - just trying to understand the deciding factor
While I love revenge stories unfortunately mibr are the DFM of last year and going to get annihilated by loud
How hard does home advantage hit for GEN G in champs?
Remember brazil crowd in Lock IN - that was crazy. But brazil has built diff crowds.
But going into champs as major winners gotta be big for gen g
man predicted this 2hours ago bro. He meant they choke the series w lotus and split
Nah he means TH lost these many rounds in a row
lost a 11-2
and now from 3-0 to 12-3 and then 13-4?
Who do we think are going to be the 4 champs teams from each region?
Personally, I think EMEA and NA have had a lot of volatility with many 'upsets' and teams performing very inconsistently and both these regions have about 6-7 teams that could make it and it just depends on how they show up to games.
APAC - GEN G, PRX, DRX, T1 - I think this is fairly certain - idk if I see any other team have a real shot. RRQ TS maybe could be dark horses?
EMEA - TH, Fnatic are def gonna make it I think. The last 2 spots will be difficult but I think it's up to KC, Navi and Fut. I think KC and Navi take it.
NA - This one is gonna be a huge playing field and I could honestly go 0/4 but I think SEN (hopium), NRG, 100T, LEV/ EG - but I'm really not confident about this one - all of kru c9 g2 eg have shown enough that they can take a top 4 spot.
CN - EDG, FPX, Trace, DRG - idk about the last 2. Don't know enough about CN valo :/
What do y'all think?
sure yea but I just wanted to know if others observed the same this year - the increased bonus wins
I don't understand val eco enough but is it just me or is it easier to win bonus rounds now (in this year)? I feel like in the past years it was standard for the score to be 2-1 after 3 rounds into the game but now I see much more 3-0s (and then 4-0s as well) and in general much more blowout halves.
Is it just me or is that how the meta is rn?
Hey does anyone have a link or can explain to me how do the #1 seeded teams get to 'pick' their opponent? I've seen a lot of stuff on Twitter about who wants to pick who.
How does it work? What if 2 teams want the same team?
Ty
NA Script goes like this -
2021/2022
Sen dominates beginning of year - goes to masters and wins. Comes back and immediately falls off.
The next big name in NA valorant is The Guard ( core of which is now G2) who dominate one split - qual for 1 masters event and then fall off as well.
Now 2024
Sen dominates for early part of year - wins a masters, comes back and falls into a slump.
Immediately taking their place is G2 (guard core) suddenly out of nowhere the first team of Americas to make Shangai.
(I'm ignoring NV/Optic/NRG core for this - cause they have been a consistent top 1-3 team since 2021)
Pretty cool tho?
It's already there - under VCT then standings. But for this year the point system is diff so it only shows the 3 winners of kickoff events
Can anyone explain the format exactly for this year. FNS said whoever wins between Sen and NRG qualifies for champs? Is that true?
Or is it the winner of Loud and Sen who makes champs cause of the 3 circuit points.
Or is it none of this?
Both EMEA and APAC following the same script
Grand finalists both come from the same group. Gen G and KC both lost in groups but made it to play-ins.
Both lower seeds (Gen G and KC) win GF 3-1
What's on the cards for SEN?
Ban was match mvp dumbass. It was just that whiff which costed them the game, unlucky
Guild's game is being streamed by Jonas I believe?
Guys is his name pronounced mawzera or M W zera? I thought it was mawzera but casters keep saying MWzera.
I don't think they're saying that that is a 'group'. A group and a pool are different. The pool is just a collection of all the teams at a particular skill level. Since all the teams in Pool 1 are the best of the best, they'll all be split into 4 different groups. Essentially a group will have 1 team from Pool 1, 2, 3 and 4.
Ohhh yea makes sense rightt my baddd
The teams confirmed in Champions are now
Sentinels (NA)
KRU Esports (LATAM)
X10 Esports (SEA)
Team Secret (Formerly BREN Esports) (SEA)
Vision Strikers
Vivo Keyd (BR)
Vikings (BR)
Crazy Racoon (JP)
Gambit (EMEA)
Acend (EMEA)
Note: Acend have 375 points at the moment and haven't officially qualified for Champions but from what I've seen the only competition to Acend securing their Champion spot (through CP alone) is if G2 come second and if Acend loses their first match. If this does happen both teams will be tied at 375 CP in the EMEA region. If im not wrong im guessing they would use the same rule as the SEA region (for TS and PRX) then based on seeding Acend would still qualify right? So I'm guessing they are basically confirmed for champions?
Please do correct me if Im wrong
Even if G2 places second and if Acend loses their first match they will be tied at 375 points right and if the same rule applies fo rTeam Secret and PRX then Acend should still go through based on results from EMEA Challengers right?
no they already have the second most circuit points so I think they already qualify for Champs.
If they lose right now (worst case scenario) they get 275 circuit points which make their total to 375 (100 from masters1).
Fnatic are at 350, so they have already overtaken them
If im not wrong Gambit has 420 circuit points minimum (if they finish 5-8th place) and Acend are at 375. So that means Fnatic are out of the top 2 positions so they are out of Champions and Acend and Gambit are in. Fnatic and Liquid are bumped out and will have to compete against each other and more teams in the EMEA LCQ.
