ShaZaM's entitlement is now facing a harsh reality. His lack of work ethic carried over from SEN to G2. Failing in Challengers only inspired more apathy in him. He believed that streaming would always be a fallback: but will it?

With the aura of excellence long since faded from the first Masters (yes, its been that long since he's won), long after his trademark cackle and ranked arrogance lost their charm, he is now facing a dwindling viewership. He has been on a sharp and steady decline since January 2022.

Is he fated to turn into the next Zombs? A steep decline once he become irrelevant in the competitive arena, with a viewership hovering around 460...

TLDR: Do some of these streamers have personalities attractive enough to sustain even a quarter of the viewership they garnered as competitors? Is the Valorant accent finally dead? What will its afterlife look like?

valorant UTILITY is > cs utility in its strength/impact

the structures guiding strategy play across both games: faking, taking information, taking and retaking space, trading, playing to the disadvantage, playing to the advantage, multitudes of protocols, etcc etc etc

you wouldnt say valorant strategy > chess strategy just because there are more pieces in valorant? chess > cs > val -- more is not always better, sometimes less allows for depth rather than breadth of tactic

CS2 will be a significant upgrade. The game WILL continue to be the best FPS in terms of raw mechanical and strategic competitive capacity. the skill ceiling in CS is astronomically higher than Valorant. Yet, in some sense, this is its weakness. The game will continue to live on through the generations in EU, but not even CS2 will be able to compete with Valorant in other regions. Nevertheless, this scarcity from other regions will make Cinderella stories all the more magical

Valorant now looks graphically far inferior to CS2. Other than that, the competition between the two is pretty much settled. CS will go the way of small, fine tuned updates and careful competitive changes; Valorant will be new meta, new map, 5-6x a year. Now Valorant is behind in graphics, and I hope they have the courage to step up. Such dynamic lighting could easily be incorporated into Valorant. Nevertheless, mechanically, the game will remain inferior: slower, smaller maps, more utility impact, equal strategic depth (not surface)

EU is actually the worst region right now

Americas #1: two teams top 3, potential back to back world champ, a lot of potential for next year

SEA #2: PRX grand finals, DRX top 6 but clears all EMEA except FNC

China #3: new region, but two of three teams finish top 8 without international experience, smaller player base with bigger results

EMEA #4: FNC barely beat loud in brazil, fnc played about as well as optic at masters, fnc finish outside top 3 at champs, FUT had to beat two #3 seeds to get to playoffs, rest of emea would get stomped by most of Americas and doesn't seem to have any hope for next season outside FNC running it back

EU has the largest player base, yet the least talent

As a Europeenan, I feel ashamed... I think maybe EMEA needs to recruit some foreign talent, there's a lot of good players in NA looking for teams
