Aside from Loud at Reykjavik, no BR team has ever won more than one match at a LAN. APAC has had multiple decent teams, with both X10 and Team Secret winning a couple matches at Champions 2021 before falling to Acend/Gambit, and of course Paper Rex being a contender this year. So if we’re comparing regions, BR is absolutely more of a minor region than APAC.

do you still find those people attractive without the cat ear/tail? if so, then it’s not necessarily furry behavior, just good character design

since there weren’t any agent/map changes in 5.04, it should be the latest patch unless they find some bug that could be problematic

maybe i’m misunderstanding what you’re asking for, but you can find a link to each player’s twitter on their vlr profile. the only players that do not have a link are ZmjjKK, CHICHOO, and Xdll

i really want to see what sgares could do with TenZ, and yeah he’s already pretty well integrated into the whole OTV/100T streaming ecosystem so it makes a lot of sense outside of just competition

i want to see 100T v LLL personally, no drama just two solid teams with tons of passionate fans

idk if you’ve watched The Good Place but seeing the word “derrek” on its own gave me flashbacks to that show

as a chem major once told me, first-year organic chemistry makes everyone hate chemistry because they don’t know enough to understand it but still somehow need it as a foundation

some universities (like mine) require intro chemistry regardless of what your major is

Group D has the most potential for drama (i.e., no matter what happens a lot of people are going to be salty or very smug)

posted about 2 years ago

i mean realistically it’s more like 21 days since group stage matches don’t have a crowd

From Wikipedia: The capacity of the arena ranges from 4,500 to 5,800, depending on different configurations for different events, and a combination of seating, standing, and VIP box configurations.

I think they just mean that FNC have only beaten one non-EMEA team this year (Leviatán) so they haven’t really earned much international hype aside from being one of the best in their region. They are a threat, sure, but they have disappointed relative to their expectations.

people didn’t roast ANGE1 for his aim, they roasted him for having an absurdly high number of first deaths for someone in his role

this roster has played every map 8-12 times, that’s gotta be one of the most even distributions i’ve seen

posted about 2 years ago

it should be nerfed chamber, the patch will have been out for three weeks when champs starts

EDIT: from the 2022 VCT EMEA rules (I assume this also applies to agent changes):

7.4.2. New Agents - will be automatically restricted for two weeks from their release on the Competitive queue. Example: Agent A was released on February 5, so Agent A will become eligible to be used in all Matches on February 19.

The year is 2042. 100T’s roster consisting of OneZ “OneZ” Ngo, TwoZ “TwoZ” Ngo, ThreeZ “ThreeZ” Ngo, FourZ “FourZ” Ngo, FiveZ “FiveZ” Ngo, and their coach/father Tyson “TenZ” Ngo are on match point against M3C, who have yet to be signed to an org. nAts has severe arthritis but somehow still clutches multiple rounds. Kyedae watches anxiously from the crowd with their sole daughter, Kyedae2, as TenZ takes a timeout so that the team can thank their sponsor, Aim Lab. They had been training for this moment since the day they could hold a mouse. In perfect unison, all five players hit a headshot with a Sheriff to end the match. The crowd erupts with joy. They had made it out of the group stage.

what do you guys think would be an appropriate number of teams at Masters/Champions teams in the new competitive structure? I was thinking, based on the Champions splits from 2021 (7 Americas, 5 Pacific, 4 EMEA) and 2022 (7 Americas, 6 Pacific, 3 EMEA), they might try to keep the 16 team format and split it 6/5/5 (same order)? 24 teams from 30-42 total would make the regional matches less interesting imo, but what do you think?

posted about 2 years ago

yeah idk how i misread that, for some reason i flipped them in the original post

FNC would not be above DRX so that doesn’t work

Inspired by FIFA U-20, I wanted to see what teams could be formed from players under the age of 20. Here’s mine for NA:

leaf
Asuna
bang
trent
neT

Other NA options:
valyn, zekken, Cryocells, dicey, flyuh, Rossy, seven, mada, bdog, Reformed, Apoth, koalanoob, neptune, penny, Frosty

I was not able to verify the age of XXiF and skuba, so idk if they count.

You think this is something? You think this is bad? This? This chicanery? He's done worse. That billboard! Are you telling me that a man just happens to fall like that?

assuming the group stage matches won’t have a crowd, and that playoffs start ~September 9th, the tickets should hopefully be released by the 19th to give people three weeks of prep

posted about 2 years ago

do you know where the source for that is? or did the discord mod just have connections to people at Riot? it was definitely announced as Sep 2 initially and i haven’t seen anything official saying otherwise

EDIT: also vlr says the event ends on Sep 19 but that’s a Monday and every previous LAN has ended on a Sunday to maximize viewership, so that’s odd

how is everyone above me missing the “not based on past performance” part? there have been agent changes, a new map, and 5-6 weeks between Copenhagen and Champs for teams to improve. people are entitled to think whatever they want about how Champs will go, this isn’t even much of a stretch

posted about 2 years ago

considering how different the rosters are going to look next year, i don’t think we can expect anyone from this year to still qualify for 2023 LANs

posted about 2 years ago

on being played 0 times in 184 maps across all LCQs, no one else could do it

posted about 2 years ago

they’ve won 21/31 so far in the LCQ

posted about 2 years ago

there has only been one perfect pickem in general for the four LCQs that are over (it was in APAC)

posted about 2 years ago

both teams have the SEN buff (lost their first map against SEN and haven’t lost a map since) so i think the game just crashes after they reach 23-23

Riot has a lot more to gain from bringing in viewers outside of Europe than from trying to bring over the CSGO fans, so it makes sense for their expansion

I decided to compile the predictions of the 40 people who have perfectly predicted the first 10 matches of the NA LCQ. This is how many people predicted each winning pair for today:

The Guard & 100 Thieves: 6
The Guard & Cloud9: 13
FaZe & 100 Thieves: 18
FaZe & Cloud9: 3

Interestingly, there appears to be a strong correlation between the top and bottom bracket, with 75% (18/24) of people who predicted 100T also predicting FaZe, and 81.25% (13/16) of people who predicted Cloud9 also predicting The Guard.

proportionally, this would be equivalent to someone in the U.S. getting 54k viewers, so it’s still a lot

how do people navigate this site it's so confusing

posted about 2 years ago

better fragging duo is debatable. I’m not denying that dicey and babybay are good, but you can definitely argue over cryo/zekken vs dicey/babybay. anyway, i just think both teams have similar problems and would rather have one of the other three LCQ teams make it based on play style

posted about 2 years ago

i don’t think people will be too surprised tbh, C9 has proven to be a strong team in the past and their ceiling definitely feels higher. if they’re having a good day I don’t think 100T can do much to stop them, they’re just sloppy sometimes

posted about 2 years ago

if FaZe qualify they’re going to end up in the same situation as XSET, just with a better controller player

posted about 2 years ago

ShahZaM has already said that he doesn’t want to play chamber because it makes it difficult to IGL if you’re not with the team and don’t have much util for info/delay, otherwise I agree that he would probably be a better Jett/Chamber in the current meta, and I don’t think he’d want to give that IGL role up to zander

posted about 2 years ago

Champs 2021 had a single-elimination bracket for playoffs, so maybe they’re just switching to double-elimination? An extra five days for seven more matches seems reasonable, assuming there’s a longer break during playoffs

posted about 2 years ago

i think they’re the only valorant team to have never lost a VCT map, so ig yeah can’t argue with that

posted about 2 years ago

Ok maybe I under-valued stellar but still I am interested to see what super-teams form post-Champions. TenZ moving to 100T feels like such a logical move from an org publicity perspective given his ties to a lot of people who are already a part of it

posted about 2 years ago

stellar played KAY/O, Cypher, and Sage in this match. Those are all agents that dapr has played many times
