EMEA is like 3x bigger than NA as far as size, having independent leagues might be just because of that and might not mean it’s a healthier pro scene. Also pro salaries are generally higher in NA, it all depends on what you mean by healthy.

No 3rd party league as far as I know, but NA challengers is gonna work like a league with several weeks of round robin-type play.
