The overwatch league wasn't bad only because it was franchised/closed system, it was bad because the structured and calendar were terrible, with no clear path towards pro play, while also being a bad game for sports considering that the dev have always prioritized fun over balance, and also there is the fact that Blizzard simply does not know how to run an esport

OWL and VCT are completely different from eachother and the situation we're in rn in valorant is not even CLOSE to how bad it have been in overwatch basically since day one

Blizzard's new OWCS is clearly them settling down for a tier 2 esport, having mostly online games with the "big" internacional events being held inside of Dreamhacks this is cheap ass compared to what we have in valorant and riots vision for the future

I don't think region representation was a that big of a factor for EMEA compared to other regions due to the fact that Esports in Europe have always been more internationalized and it's actually quite rare for a team to only have players from their own region/country only the only exception in this case would be the teams from Turkey, which historically have been its own separate region in most games, so they'll probably at least for a good time from now continue to have Turkish player's only rosters.

OCE is legit a region with a LOT of firepower and good names, the thing is that you guys are both poor and exist in a unfortunate timezone, it's too far from Europe and north America to attract big orgs or brands, and it's too small and a region to monetarily sustain itself

Maybe they should just straight up copy the RIB.gg systems, or maybe we should move there instead

I mean almost all of the APAC regions are already separated, there's KR, JP and OCE, the ""APAC"" nowadays is just SEA, SA and China, which don't even make sense to be combined in the same category since these communities barely interact at all.

Just creat a new categories for CN and SA, and rename the existing one to SEA.

I have another question, why don't they let us play with Chinese VO/simplified Chinese HUD, they job is literally already done they just need to enable them on the global server, makes no sense whatsoever

Now that VCT CN is finally launching there's 0 chance a HK/TW team will ever will Pacific Ascension, every good player in the region will try to be picked up by a Mainland org, even if it's Challengers team.

Fellas out here really expecting riot to give out lots of money to 150 teams in the challenger leagues LOL

Btw I GUARANTEE that when riot announce next year's season most orgs that left are coming back

COMMUNICATE

After several internal meetings and, given the information we have so far, Oddik has decided to end activities involving Valorant in the organization.

This decision was taken due to the weak calendar for the 2023 season, with the year ending in June and the promises to keep the scene warm with championships from other organizers not materializing, in addition to low audience numbers and some questionable decisions such as for example, the lack of some allowance so that teams could attend the studios on game days and the lack of information regarding the calendar for the 2024 season; among other reasons that will not be revealed here and that strained the relationship between organization and developer.

It was a difficult resolution, but we believe it is the best path for the organization's next steps. With the departure of Valorant, Oddik will invest even more in CS:GO and will be attentive to opportunities to enter new sports.

If Riot Games goes back on some decisions and presents a strong and attractive calendar not only for organizations but also for the public, Oddik will certainly reassess this decision and study a return to the modality.

With the option to leave the competitive environment of Valorant, Oddik sees no other option but to pause the ODKASA project, which is completely focused on creating content and, in this way, Oddik's streamers will also have their contracts terminated.

ODDIK will continue with the contracts for the inclusive and mixed lines until the end of the competitions to come (GameChangers and EliteCup) and then decide which paths to follow with the players.

It's impossible to have a true global esport without China tbh, I really hope this tournaments and the investments from both Riot and the teams accelerate the development of the players.
Looking at League esport we may have an idea of the potential of the Chinese scene, even tho it started officially really late in comparison to others now they're arguably the n°1 in the world :o
Btw I also think that guy Edward is really good at gaming #EDGWIN

I bet you can't elaborate a better way to distribute this last spot in this supposed case of china only having one.
5 for EMEA? Literally half the league on a Master? Feels really off.
To Americas or Pacific? Then you trow away everything lock//in meant to be for, it just wouldn't work really well.
2 spots for china is completely reasonable specially considering the purpose of Chinese teams attending this events (gaining international experience to speed the development of the CN scene)

Yeah I'm super excited to VCT China tbh, finally having the complete global ecosystem for the esport is going to be a great thing

Why would they be? Even if they don't have level to compete for a international tittle rn its necessary to include them so that the region can develop teams and players
