Not a lot of orgs like to take risks. Orgs like BREN used to field teams when the Valorant system was still like an open league. Now there are 3 degrees of separation from the international tournaments and the local tournaments, orgs feel like its a waste to invest into a scene that doesnt have a chance of playing in international tournaments within the year.

Blacklist CEO Tryke wanted to get into Valorant but its hard when the only time you can get into tier 1 is through the difficult Ascension tournament

Filipinos like winners. If you dont win you dont get the support of the main stream audience. They view tier 2 as not worth watching.

We have a facebook group that's like 1.2 million people but not even 1% of that tune in to streams. Not to mention that the streaming base is so fragmented, there are people who tune in to multiple websites but majority are tiktok only, fb only, yt only, or twitch only. So its hard to get a critical mass of filipinos to join the stream. When they see twitch or yt streams with sub 1k viewers they'll think its not worth their time.

Edit: I like to add that filipinos will tune in to philippines vs (X country) matches. In a way consolidating the APAC region will bring more filipino viewership

i dont mind the consolidation and I do think that this makes inter-country rivalries more exciting. What I don't like is the entire SEA region being merged into 1 VCL. SEA deserves atleast 2 VCLs.

Remember the top 4 of Ascension 2023 We're BOOM, NAOS, SCARZ, and BLEED. 3/4 of them are SEA teams. This change doesnt do the SEA region justice.

i feel so sad for teams that are top 3 & 4 in their regions(Carti World in particular). they'll get decimated due to these changes.

TH and ID Tier 2 gets good viewership meanwhile MYSG and PH doesnt have much viewership but has good teams that can match the rest of the region.

winning split 2 challengers in your respective regions will get you a spot in ascension. Teams that get to ascension will have to fight to get to the Tier 1 League(VCT Pacific in this case) . The changes mentioned above will happen after ascension concludes

the koreans will just eat up the japanese teams. the japanese teams will just hire a bunch of koreans then boom JP tier 2 scene is dead.

SEA should've been split into 2 regions(Mainland and Maritime) meanwhile SA(AKA just India) gets a whole region to itself

i think TS wants someone who can be on the level of INVY and Jremy when it comes to fire power. BORKUM can be a hit or miss sometimes so its understandable why they would drop him

he's benched not dropped. He always starts out so slow and needs time to warm up i think TS wants someone who can swing out of the gates. Hopefully he can prove that he deserves the spot next year.
