CS is just the better game in EU

Valorant nerds in the mud rn HAHAHAHAHA

Right it should be this way for all tournaments, especially Blast. Thankfully, Valve is forcing all TOs to be open circuit in 2025

posted 2 months ago

Ok makes sense, you didnt specify NA so I thought you meant the tier2 scene in general. But even in NA currently, tier 2 players with orgs make decent close to 6 figures.

Right before covid, tier 2 NA players were doing pretty well financially. It wasn’t only money but making in the top scene that made handle of NA pros switch. A lot were stuck in tier 2 or below in CS and wasn’t good enough to make it to tier1.

posted 2 months ago

Actually in tier 2 CS, pros made relatively high incomes. Styko a tier 2 pro made low/mid 6 figures, and that major sticker money really helps.

Ok, they are slightly lower than a major, but its pretty close. Both katowice and Cologne were both majors themselves back then

posted 3 months ago

No, Katowice and Cologne are basically major equivalent in CS, except it not being technically a major. In terms on a tier list, the S+ tier would be the Major, IEM (before known as ESL One) Katowice, and Cologne. ESL One NY was a S tier event IMO, still pretty big event, just not as prestigious.

What don't you like about CS2? (Personally, not things you hear on twitter)
What don't you like about Valorant maps?

posted 3 months ago

Unfortunately, I think once an esport scene is developed, they will move towards international teams and national teams die. Ex. LoL only Korean/Chinese teams are national since they are the dominant scene, but the rest are international (NA/EU). CS, it applies the same too, Danes and Russians are national, but the rest tends to be international in tier 1.

posted 3 months ago

I mean i don't know how it is bias, franchising is known to kill esports like Overwatch. Tier 2 is still segregated from Tier 1, if they want to fix this simple issue, they can just go back to open circuit like in 2021

posted 3 months ago

maybe you are right, but ESL/Blast do know how to get views.

posted 3 months ago

I disagree, people clearly want to see more events. Just bring in a different TO such as ESL or Blast for other events would bring in so much hype.

posted 3 months ago

CSGO's release was 10 times worse than CS2, honestly, the reason why CS2 is getting so much hate is because people were so used to how good CSGO was. CS2 will receive a lot of content once developers fix the bugs, which to be honest is going to take a while but it is still going to happen.

NA CS even though it is not as alive in 2019, is NOT dead. If it is truly dead, then coL would not be top 8 in the world, Liquid being a superteam, m80 be competitive to tier 1, and other tier 2 teams like WIldcard and Nouns producing talents. Don't forget, covid and Valorant took a generation off of NA talent such as S0m, Xeppa, Leaf. It will take time to producing the next generation of talent.

IMO, franchising will be the nail in the coffin for Valorant. I just don't see how talent can be developed if there is almost no tier 2 support. And now currently, tier 1 is taking a hit from barely playing any events. Say what you want about how it spreads influence to different regions, it will die out when Orgs are pulling out due to financial issues and little events.

posted 3 months ago

At least the CS one is still alive, while the Val one is trajected to die lmao. In 2025, all CS events will be open circuit.

posted 3 months ago

Cologne is one of my favorite events

posted 3 months ago

CS, even though Valve are some lazy fucks, they are at least moving towards the right direction with open circuit requirements for all tournaments starting 2025 and the game will eventually get most of the bugs fixed with content added around end of 2024/2025. CSGO release was in 2012 and it was far worse than CS2 release, but eventually it got really good and people start to love it at 2015.

Valorant, its questionable to say the least. The esports scene is good but it is in a downward trajectory. Maybe the game received too much hype at the start and didnt grow properly like other esports LoL/CS. This made orgs invest too much and Riot realizing they are spending too much in Valorant, so they are cutting back (see Leo Faria). For the game itself, I think it will hold, for now. I think the game was a lot better when it has less agents, and I fear the people will quit when it gets overwhelming (people are already quitting).

posted 3 months ago

god pls no, dont let him touch the only esports I really care about

posted 3 months ago

Im afraid you are right. Valorant is receiving too much hype and these orgs are forced to invest heavily. Once they realize they are losing too much money, it is already too late. Compared to other esports where the scene started from the bottom and gradually being invested more until the current scene, Valorant started from a high point.

Imagine how good this opening ceremony would have been without the dumb dubstep at the end.

I wonder what awards and player ranking medals Vlr would look like if it ever gets one lmaoooo

posted 3 months ago

Even 5% would be generous lmao. Valve splits 50/50 with orgs and players. Greed is in question here

posted 4 months ago

Lol they will keep all the earnings if thats the case

posted 4 months ago

Blast Major alone made $110 million just off stickers, which means the total prize pool is $111 million from the original $1.25 mil, insane more than dota 2.

Riot greedy to allow such a thing.

Does Valorant need this as well?

Difference that in CS, its a way of life. In Valorant, it’s a job. Different mentalities fr

posted 5 months ago

Daps could be the next Karrigan (Hopium), Osee can work effectively in this new squad like he did with ExtraSalt than with Liquid, Hext and Fang have inconsistency issues but with experience can overcome them, and Brehze can return back to form if he has the motivation now with the new team. So you're right, its a huge question mark as it can swing great or bad, but since they have potential, that is good enough tbh

posted 5 months ago

true im skeptical about NRG particularly Brehze and Daps, but we have to see how they perform during the major RMRs. If they flop after a long period, Autimatic can still be picked up

posted 5 months ago

wrote this a while ago to someone else.

Heres a website to see past tournaments easier if you’re new.
https://liquipedia.net/counterstrike/S-Tier_Tournaments

Events:
S+: Majors - sponsored by Valve and chosen TO organizes it (2 per year typically one usually in Spring and one in Fall); IEM Katowice (Feb/March) and Cologne (June/July) - events that feel like a major but not technically (organized by ESL); Blast World Final (typically in December) - slightly under the previous events imo in terms of hype and prestigiousness but still huge event (organized by Blast ofc)

S: Blast Spring Final and Fall Final - season big events, Fall final is little more hype usually since it is in Copenhagen Royal Arena with a bigger CS audience; IEM events - big events but not as huge as Cologne or Katowice, around 3-4 events spread out per year, location depends but some in the past were in Sydney, Rio, Beijing, Dallas (very common per year), etc.

S-: ESL Pro League (variable time every year)- this is borderline to S tier as it has a big prizepool, but this is a chill event, but games are still very hype typically; Blast Spring and Fall Groups - big events to get qualified to Blast Spring Finals and Fall Finals. If you bomb out, you get another chance to qualify through Blast Spring and Final Showdown which is basically LCQ; Gamers8 - new organizer event that was added recently with a huge prizepool but the event itself is smaller than the rest (unsure if this event will continue next year and so forth).

Rest are A or below tier you can find on the link. If you think this is a lot, there used to be more events back then 2015-2019. My thoughts is that I like how many events there is because I can always watch many good events throughout the year.

Already great signs, from a dead tier 1 team and others are irrelevant scene to 1 top 6 team (coL), 1 title contender team on paper (Liquid), and a tier 1.5 with tier 1 potential team (NRG), this is definitely a return. M80 is gradually getting better too, and there are more talents scattered between tier 2/3 teams which are promising such as jba. Now compared to EU, its still on a smaller scale, but at least its not dead like 6 months ago.

posted 5 months ago

one game in a meaningless tier 2 event, try again 😭😭

posted 5 months ago

yes m80 is working up from tier 2, very exciting to watch. jba with more experience can work on tier 1 soon!

posted 5 months ago

Maybe when hes washed lmao, hes still doing great in coL bring that team from top 25 to 6 even though his peak in 2019 was godlike

Would like to see some LoL or Dota ones! Recently saw the beginning of the 2023 TI Opening Ceremony and it was great

NA CS now has:

coL (Best NA team and top 6 in the world after Elige joined)

Liquid (Squad: NAF, Yekindar, Skullz, Cadian, Twistzz - insane on paper and will contend to be one of the best team in the world)

NRG (Decent team and can pull major upsets)

What are your favorite entrances for players?

I personally like the way CS (Blast and ESL) does it, gets me goosebumps and I think Riot Valo needs to adopt some of it.

Cs2 shit state rn, at least not as bad as csgo release so I think long term itll be fine. Thats just how Valve do things unfortunately, they are slow and quiet, but ultimately will fix at least most of the issues. And CS will never die, thanks to the open community support
