VLR baiters are getting out of hand. Innocent people are getting baited and this is leading to increased toxicity.
There are 3 steps to counter a baiter

1. You need to identify a bait first. It's pretty simple. Anyone who is being excessively toxic for no reason at all, is baiting. If you find yourself getting angry at a comment, it's most likely a bait and you don't need to waste your energy on it.
2. After you have identified a bait, there is only 1 correct way to handle it. JUST. IGNORE. IT. Any kind of comment you make in response to it, is just giving the baiter the attention they crave. Instead of replying to it and arguing with someone, just move on and let the thread die out on its own. Someone called your team/region trash ? No need to defend, just move on.
3. Try to remember the names of accounts that you've already identified as baiters and make sure to ignore all posts from them in the future.

Bonus tip : All teams at this event are really really good and world class. All region representatives are great. So if someone is calling a team/region trash, just know in your heart that it's just a bait or just blind hatred and requires no response from you.
The only way to discourage baiters is by not getting baited

Lets say they set up 1st round as XSET v FPX and OPTC v FNC. Now suppose both NA teams lose here and go on to get eliminated. That's a big part of NA audience gone. Or if both EU teams lose, a big part of EU audience is gone.
XSET v OPTC and FNC v FPX ensures at least 1 NA and 1 EU team in the upper bracket.
