yeah reading this and what others have replied with has defo shifted my perspective, I think first they should try expand the season, then maybe if they have excess time they could do 4 but its tough. But 3 is completely possible yeah, but for some reason they're insistent on making sure t1 and ascension don't overlap, hopefully that's something they fix for 2025

(allat warning ig) boaster should be here in my (obviously biased, but trying to be objective) opinion, you can argue his calling isn't as good as others, but the igl has to be an emotional leader and has a share in creating strats and anti-stratting, leo's described boaster as a completely different person on stage, and being able to carry the teams mental when they're down and it shows, fnatic last year were ahead of the curve when it came to comps and strats alongside loud, the most obvious example being lotus. You also can't argue that the whole comp and anti-stratting was done by mini, as he himself has said most of that is boasters doing, and mini acted more so as an objective second pair of eyes

but how do you reasonably extend the season? going backwards to january would make it so ascension teams have no almost break, and going forward would eat into ascension viewership

personally i dont really care if champs is on at the same time as ascension, but im defo sure there are people who will, and not to mention that riot would lose so much viewship over something like that

correction: last year also ended in august, so basically we're in for a long ass offseason again, but then you have the issue with champs eating into ascension (october) viewership

Feels like you can't have a good format this way, even up until now I don't think it's that bad besides all elim/qual not being BO5. However when qualifications for Champs and Split 2 starts, the real problems are going to show, literally 1/3 of the teams have little to no chance of making champs and their year is objectively over, and the only reason they had to do it this way is because there wasn't enough time for 2 round robins. rn we have 1 round robin split down in the middle for a masters, I think the only good way to fix this is axe a LAN so they can give us 2 REAL splits each before events, hell maybe even an LCQ.
