VLT didnt deep fried best T2 thai, Filipino & Japanese teams just for our region to be called the worst.... I agree our talent pool is very small but our best team can sit on par with best t2 teams in SEA.. And until Japanese, Thai & filipino region avenges those losses against us we are better than them..... So give us our flowers.
Edit: just saw a thread where everyone was mentioning our region as weakest so had to say it.

The large population doesnt matter when the number of people who can afford to give time for gaming+buy a good PC would be similar to nordic countries.
Because people don't play PC games. I know it sounds like a broken record at this point but trust me, it is true. Most of our population don't have a pc, let alone a good one. And even if they do, we are a decade or two away from "esports athlete" being an acceptable career path in India.
It's nothing against India or the region, it just tends to be carried by imports and has lackluster results at ascension. I hope the region improves and in 5-10 years with the right development it can become a major piece of VCT, but as of right now the talent simply isn't there. Japan or PH may be worse, I wish there was more inter-regional tier 2 games so we can know for sure :)
hmm.... Yeah i agree with you their but its just that i feel sad when people on this forum always overlook our Indian rep's last year performance in ascension and just say us bad.... and last year VLT wasnt carried much by imports.... Surely against RIDDLE, VLT got carried by damaraa but in the other games if you check all players have similar stats, They won because they were playing like a team.
yeah VLT played very well during ascension, I was pleasantly surprised, they did all have decently similar stats and I was moreso talking about the lower to middle level of teams that are import-carried, they were playing like a team and it definitely gave me some hope especially taking a map off Nongshim that went on to win masters
since GE is most likely getting removed from partnership would you want VLT instead? what roster would you want them to get? I've heard people on both sides, saying that there should be a 5 Indian team in tier 1 no matter how they perform (although they would still be able to win games against ZETA and a couple others) and I've also been seeing the other side where you should have only one or two at a time and work up to a solid competitive 5 Indian roster long term in a couple years
i just think it's amazing indians even hit radiant in this game, let alone play t2.5 when most parents compare gaming with homeless behaviour even in small moderation
most of the talent are rich kids/college students or pre existing dinos from the miniscule cs scene
Nahh... VLT has closed their operations now... And i honestly prefer 3 Indians + 2 imports... because i feel the Indian players ahs also considerably improved with the help of imports.
except the top 2 teams, all the mid table is the weakest out of any vcl
most indian pro players peaked gold and are terrible, India should not be considered a tier 2 region, they are tier 9 at best
riddled with nepotism (unless theres genuinely just no talent available because how has LOVE not been dropped) reliant on imports like damaraa and dos9 who put up like genuinely ridiculous numbers
the main thing with other regions is that you could argue that they could genuinely be tier 1, like EP before the roster moves, MTV before they fell out, m80 pretty much under any roster other than 2025, etc. whereas that argument doesn’t exist
mtv were quite good against t1 team in scrims during bangkok when t1 teams were scrimming with them and the roster was good now too

I think if you have to make an argument that your region is actually competitive in T2 it is an indictment on the strength of your region.
Not a single player is actually regarded as a prospect to play in t1, no team from this region came close to qualing thru ascension, and your most recent rep in the league was.... Russ ?

Imo our teams need good coaching, all of them lack fundamentals. I think we have enough talent that if we make a team with the 5 best Indians and teach them the fundamentals they can hang with other SEA T2 teams. That said, it doesn't mean that we're better or even on par with other SEA countries simply because they have talent at the tier 1 level as well. The only country I can see us getting ahead of is maybe vietnam.
555 is a lft team with no coaches and look how far they came if ascension was held they'd be top 5
Also I wanna say that most Indian fans are aware of this and those who say otherwise are baiting. However I think Thegreat isn't baiting and they really believe it but that is just their opinion which they are entitled to. Don't use that to say "Indians fans say x and y no wonder we should hate them" it's annoying.
Yo man.. Im not saying that we are better than other SEA countries... by on par i actually meant can give tough fight, however i would still say that SEA teams will be favouraite but difference is not much as people usually say and refute our region by just calling it "shit region"
