vod reviewing for ranking up is close to useless. you're almost never conscious when taking a fight or playing the game except for preround. if you have underlying issues in your mechanics or fighting. just queue a bunch of DM's or TDM's to improve rather than sitting and watching a vod you will forget about when you queue.

You can't play any macro on ranked, just shoot heads and trash talk the enemys as God intended

ur vod reviewing wrong then

take notes on how you die, on how much impact ur action had in the round

if you see common struggles with your gameplay you are able to fix those problems more effectively

absolutely wrong. you think you're going to remember and be conscious of all that information mid game? knowing how you die is very important in that SPECIFIC game and you won't find the same problems next game. Telling people to be aware midgame is better. If you died because of a shower lurk, you don't wait for vod review to change that.

id argue vod reviewing deaths is wrong as well
cuz when you are looking at your deaths in isolation its a lot of "i shouldve backed out here" or "i couldve played safer" when most like ur death is not the biggest mistake that happened that round, a death can even be a good high round conversion play.

whats way better is if you're vod reviewing yourself mostly focus on looking for mechanical weaknesses and catching yourself autopiloting, and then focus on those mechanical weaknesses in deathmatch

a lot of gamesense can be fixed from playing more aggressive and taking aggressive timings to get a better feel for those timings
looking for general macro mistakes is pointless unless you're higher immo pushing for radiant, external coaches geenerally help way more with macro

im not agreeing with you, i think vod reviewing yourself can be very helpful when done correctly, but whats also incredibly effective is vod reviewing pros and copying their playbooks

also im not sure if by "queuing a bunch of dms" you mean just playing them or focusing on a specific skill you want to work on if the latter then its good advice if former then it wont do that much

i mean yeah thats hbasically my point. vod reviewing urself isnt bad but its no impact/minimal especially at lower ranks if u dont know what ur doing.

vod reviewing for ranking up is close to useless

Then you would not be saying this. Hire a coach to help you figure out what you are doing wrong

i don't really play the game that much which is my only problem and a couple of other issues. i also think coaches for ranking up is a waste of money and time. the problem for vod reviewing isn't what your doing wrong. its that you won't remember anything mid game, the best practice is to just queue and fix the problems mid game.

I strongly disagree but you do you coz i feel like that conviction is set in stone for you.

why do you disagree? its abit harsh but if you need a coach to tell you how to play the game then you are not really good at the game are you? its like how people say "oh my god i keep facing smurfs". do you want to face bad players? how do you ever get better at the game without playing very good players lol

you can actively think about something on purpose with the sacrifice that your gameplay might be a bit worse but you’re learning to do better plays

which kind of contradicts itself. when you go to vod review after, you realize you were thinking more rather than playing instinctively. and then what, let go of thinking mid game? the best way is to fix your habits and non conscious decision making.

how would you fix them if you don’t know whats wrong

the best way is to fix your habits and non conscious decision making.

queue a bunch of DM's, TDM's. find out why you lose a bunch of gun fights, is it because your first bullet is inaccurate? theres so much more to than just saying wow i died here hmm im gonna remember that next game.

dms and tdms don’t train your gamesense
if your issue is an aim issue i guess dm and tdm can fix that

game sense you just have to watch valorant. game sense you get easily by just playing the game as well.

#20

is watching how i play not watching valorant
with 20 minutes of vod review you’ll learn more about yourself than playing 5 whole valorant games

whats the difference between watching coventry play and bayern munich?

i respect that but i just think its better to watch good players/good teams play the game. agree to disagree

If you auto pilot in ranked, VOD reviews and DM spam are the literal last things you should be bothering with.

vod reviewing is for people whose deficiency is their game sense, of course someone whose aim is dogshit would benefit more from DMs lol. It's way easier to be objective about your own performance after the fact than while your in the middle of your game, it's why self film review universally in any competitive scene from traditional sports to esports is important
