accidentally killed the monkey hiding in the bush and contemplated restarting then the stupid patches guy died so quick i didnt give him a chance

yeah but this is like my forst souls game and i absolutely suck ass and i can barely beat any beginner bosses
you don't have to beat any bosses to get there i'm pretty sure, just a rando npc outside the cave
I personally find it a lot more liberating to just stick with wrong choices on my first playthrough and to do it all blind.
There's some items you'll never get and npcs you might never meet but thats better than jumping through hoops in an open world game, save these questlines for new game+ or a new run.
(Id draw the line at missing bosses but iirc theres none you can lock yourself out of)
boc has the best questline lowkey so restart for sure, you get this really good armor set from Patches' questline as well so I suggest you restart prob
