no as they announcement vid said the top 3 teams from each region go to shanghai

I don't see anything for that on Liquidpedia. Problem is that Shanghai is a 12 team tournament, so implementing this would be annoying because it would become a 13 team tournament, unless they punish the region that performed the worst at Madrid.

Points is the only form of qualification for the Masters and Champions events.

Points are given for wins in each split and winning events/playoffs

Thanks for the information. I guess they are not doing the extra slot thing anymore... Tbf I didn't like the extra slot thing anyway.
