My team sucks at split, is there any other way to learn how to play maps besides pro play vod review and valoplant? I feel like its hard to see whats going on when watching the pro play sometimes.

most split games boil down to who controls mid so just try and deny that on defense and take it on attack

I used split as an example I was more curious if there were YT vids that did explanations of the basics of each map for competitive play

What’s your comp? Split heavily depends on comp and that determines how you guys should play.

I think we are changing to Viper Omen Kayo Raze Chamber

We either run double smokes or Kayo Skye/Breach but we think double smokes is better

Try avoiding viper. Imo she brings very little value on attack and defense since her nerf. The only good util she has is her ult right now. Try exploring with sage. Also if you guys want try replacing kayo with breach since his util pairs nicely with raze

I think we will transition to breach as we play more, Kayo is easier for now just because his knife helps us with info

Split overall is not a very info driven map. You can easily gain info through defaulting without using util.

More for defense because other team obv defaults but you can gain info on where they are leaning towards + catching lurks

This channel has some of the highest production quality and explanations I've seen in the val community, there are a couple of them that were on Split.

As someone who likes to play Split and win most games, i would say it's heavily dependent on comp and players playstyle.
for me the ideal comp for this map is:

Sage (for me Sage is untouchable on this map)
Raze (the best duelist for this map)
Breach (Breach is really strong on this map, he can help the team from far distances and is very useful to take control of mid and A site)
Chamber (this is the only one up to preference for me, you can switch him for Kayo, Skye or even Killjoy/Cypher, depends on what your team is most comfortable with)
Omen or Brimstone (their skills match the map a lot)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3QHiNSjJ30 this is not meta comps at all but it shows good ways to attack on split. 1-3-1 or 2-2-1 defaults are really good for this map on attack. with raze you have a good chance to explode off of opening picks/important info.

split has the most varied comp between pro teams. some teams run double controller, others run double initiator (usually breach and kayo/skye) some teams run chamber as their sentinel, others run sage. gambit/optic run neon?? theres a lot you can experiment with so find a comp that fits your playstyle.
