Presses button that does nothing

Literally its just the same teams for the most part which will get the best players due to having more money. While it is true that the cups being open for everyone is huge, the overall dynamic between franchised and non franchised teams doesnt seem too different. I thought thos format was supposed to incentivize teams to invest in valo but it seems like many teams are actually leaving now that they won't have franchising money.

It will be funny when a random org with 5,000 twitter followers upsets big teams, though.

I think the first iteration of franchise is just to root out the underperforming teams. (I.e. C9, NAVI, GX, DFM, Etc) And focus on the popular guys. So although americas is just the big 3 in latam/NA, theres a good chance one doesn't make it when the reevaluation comes around.

It's like buying a used car, you know it's reliable, it does it's job for now, and you'll replace it down the line should it stop working. But right now just stick with what works and fix it later.

Once re-evaluation comes around, orgs like SRB, M80, NS, DRX, LYON, FOKUS will all get rotated in eventually. But for right now sticking with the ones you trust is smart.

People see valorant tournament -> "Yo that character looks fucking sick" -> "Yo that player just did something Fucking epic wtf???" -> "I wanna play like them" -> Download valorant -> Riot makes money off of them playing and/or buying skins.

The potential of becoming an esports star keeps a community hooked on wanting to grind the game, therefore forcing them to play longer and stay on the game, which means they'll see more skins they like and spend more money on the game over time. All around, VCT makes Riot lots of money, which means riot wants to give the teams that bring them such numbers lots of money.

The esports teams benefit from sponsors, Content, and franchise money from riot. Not only giving riot attention but also giving the companies that own/partner with them attention. Take Nongshim for example, You see nongshim showing support to a game you care about, it makes you more willing to buy nongshim products, therefore nongshim makes money.

Most esports teams have a Business behind them in some way. The team acts as a billboard catered towards a younger audience.

The point of investing in esports is to advertise your brand to a younger audience who isn't interested in the newspaper, Television, or billboards anymore. It's expensive as fuck and kinda unstable, but when it works it works.

also, being the main sponsor for most esports teams and having your logo on the center of their jersey (Like rockstar for NRG and HermanMiller for G2) costs a brand roughly 1.5-3 million dollars a year.
