Since most of the leagues are in the last round of the current season, i would like you all to share your VRL tier list. Things to take into account : Level of competition, format, casting, and potential winners for the promotion tournament.

Rising is S tier with that number of invites and a trash format? I love the casting but everything else is... meh.

I agree, even tho 19 is kinda struggling in the second division rn, but I do agree they should have invited less teams.

And about the format itself, is definitely polemic but I do like it, it’s just an opinion tho

Ofc. And there will be no challengers 2 open quals. So the VRL is very important for teams eyeing the 2nd challengers.

But Spain does have a second division, Liga Radiante, the winner of the liga radiante plays a Bo5 against the looser of the relegation in the Spanish vrl for the spot. So it’s not a completely closed circuit

Had no idea it existed. But again, the second leg of the VRL really does not matter cause it doesn't lead to the VCT.

  1. Nordics
  2. East
  3. Turkey
  4. Spain
  5. DACH
  6. France
  7. MENA
  8. CIS

Nordics has everything - 4 teams all of whom could qualify through promotion (Alliance, Tundra, Excel, Tenstar), good Bo3 format and normal double elim playoffs

East I like because of diversity (literally 6 countries participating, with Poland having 3 teams), and all of these except KTRL deserved to be there, it's not like they're bad and invited just because of country (KTRL is the only exception), and also relegation (6-7th to another phase, 8th directly out)

Turkey good average quality of teams with FF and FUT being there, this league is the most stacked if we consider average strength

Spain bad Bo1 round robin and Bo5 playoffs (?????), no 19esports, trash Bisons / Arctic, don't get me started, though other teams in Spain are pretty solid

France, DACH cringe Bo2 system with often having no winner in a match which is stupid, but DACH prevails because in France playoffs are single elim

MENA double round robin is pretty nice (everyone plays twice more than in other VRLs), but MENA is still far behind by their gameplay quality

CIS is literally ruined at this point because of Russia/Ukraine, some matches are postponed until unknown date, shit might even get cancelled if Russia shuts down global internet for their citizens (there were rumors)

By strength:

  1. Nordics
  2. Spain
  3. Turkey
  4. DACH
  5. East
  6. France
  7. CIS
  8. MENA

By viewership (Aris for you):

  1. Spain
  2. Turkey
  3. France
  4. DACH
  5. Nordics
  6. East
  7. MENA
  8. CIS

Not many teams that deserved to be there and they aren’t other than maybe 19, they got the big orgs with resources instead that in the long term are more likely to get better rosters and attract fanbase. The level is really really high rn, probably one of the highest budgets overall too

And the format might not be the best competitively but it’s really intense, and that’s just the regular season but over 6/10 teams go to playoff, where is all bo5. So it’s actually quite fair. And 4 teams in relegation just 1 goes down to play against the winner of the second division for the spot. So the regular season is not that important.

I actually think it’s a good format, definitely better than ties

I mean, idk what will be the format for 2023, but the winner of the radiante could play the second split of the vrl, and be the winner so maybe play in 2023? Idk

Unironically upper 4 of VRL Nordics are better than half of NA VCT teams

CIS really doesn't exist atm. No games are being played due to the current geopolitical situation. So get where he's coming from.

Ohh, mb, I kinda forgot for a moment, I guess that’s a fair point, but I think is more fun to rank them by what they had

1 promotion spot NO WAY THEY'RE CARRYING ARCTIC AND BISONS TO NEXT STAGE

Are you sure because here it shows 2 qualified, i.e. 2 who come from Liga Radiante will advance

Could carry both if there aren’t better teams or none. If I’m not mistaken this is how relegation works:

It all depends on if there is someone from VCT going down and choosing the Spanish Vrl. In that case, the 4th place of the relegation would go straight down to the Liga Radiante, and the 3rd place would okay a bo5 against the winner of the Radiante for the spot. If no one decides to choose the Spanish then the 3rd one is safe and the stays

The good thing of all this is that unlike the leagues that have had open quals and won’t have much resources, LVP invited orgs that they know are going to invest money and improve their roster for the next split, no one wants to be last

I only watch Nordic and Spanish some times. Nordic seems most stacked. Some of their production is pretty cool like those small segments with players from different teams. I mainly watch Spanish for KOI. Spanish production is good and casters are cool even though I don't understand them. Also Spanish good viewership.

True. NA teams apparently don't want to fuck with Mickey mouse tournaments so they just keep streaming and waiting for VCT. But in EU teams are hustling to get into the tier 1 scene. Culture diff.
