its cooked without a league

like i can wake up, watch the apac/china games if early
then switch straight to emea
end it with some 100t
throughout a whole month and its all usually t1 level/even

now we're switching to "cup format" and more local games meaning no more varrel vs team secret its going to be like cs which is fine but theres not 500 t3 lans so less games and less hq games. also no more t2
loud vs la masia and mibr vs elevate better hit next year

nothing beats the sheer shithousery and memery of a big team losing to a tier 3 shitter in an open qual buddy.
https://www.hltv.org/matches/2347747/vitality-vs-9z-blast-premier-spring-showdown-2021 - this single game did more damage to zywoo's legacy than his loss at cologne this year

yeah but if a team gets bounced in open quals in val format they have to wait until next masters cycle to play which is at LEAST 2-3 months away again unlike in cs where you can wait for the next t1 event in a few weeks-a month max or sign up for a t2 lan during that time

cant wait to watch PRX get 2nd in Masters just to be playing against a team of T2 nobodies in their next match.

it’s not, cup are just like kick off or playoff. you still can do that but all the match will actually have big impact

They're making all the regional tournaments shorter without adding anything new to the schedule, between Masters 1 and the 1st Cup will probably end up being ~6-8 weeks of open qualifiers in place of what normally would've been the group stage.

they are just going to a tournament styled bracket like playoffs instead of it being a split/league format, you see less games of the bad teams than this system

You also see less games of the good teams. while the average level of play at the cups might be marginally higher then the current regional leagues it comes at the cost of the vast majority of the year being spent on online open qualifiers which will end up with a lot of shitty match ups. Do we really need to see top teams like NRG or G2 facing the like 6th-10th best NA team? do we really need to see PRX absolutely stomp every single team in their "Wildcard" region?
