Why wont tsm participate in tier 2 tournaments such as nerd street tournaments? I believe that it would be beneficial for the team.

lol that's massive cap (on what he said, not what you said).
If they were fully focused on VCT they would have brainstormed ways to improve themselves, no way it didn't occur to them to play actual matches to get used to playing as a team in a competitive environment and gain experience. I won't say it was ego, but "being focused on VCT" for sure isn't the reason. That's an excuse.

The only people who play in these tournaments are broke AF.
You never see actual rich people in Val play NSG tournies (Hiko, Zombs, TenZ, Shaz).
i suppose if they prioritize money over being good it would make sense.

That's true but I'm pretty sure Hiko at least practices with his team regularly
100T may not have the best results yet but they're one of the hardest working teams
