the new franchising system is gonna be shit, its still gonna be the same teams in the same placements as always but the qualifiers are gonna be confusing, low-level filler slop and theres gonna be way more drama with cheaters, tech pause/remake abusers and scummy orgs

Do you think there's not a single person at Riot who hasn't thought up the cheater angle?

For Fortnite (another open qual system) I'm ngl, most of the drama is stupid high school shit like "This guy knew he wouldn't make it, so he landed on me" "He said he would scrim but went to go hang out with a girl" "He left me for XXXX". I doubt we'll see the same in Val.

I also assume they'll have a online chess situation where u have to video-camera ur setup to compete

I mean yes, but that is legit all the drama every FNCS qualifier, Shyo was on the money. You don't ever see any other drama, I will say the scrim but hang out with a girl was RLCS most recently tho lmao, funny af

You know how many times Clix farms the same "i offered __ 50,000 to play and he still refused.... everyone hates meeeee"

idk man I just hate how it feels like Rito is giving in to all the CS frogs that want Valo to be CS2.5.

Like I hope Im wrong but I really dont think I am, and its such a shame too because they finally had a perfect meta at champs and they finally found a perfect kickoff format and now they are regressing in my opinion

ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh not exactly true, there has been times where it's been horrible

there have been blatant rage hackers running it down in tournaments for months griefing people intentionally out of qualifying for the cash cups

which then changes who claims what drops and ruins the competitive integrity of the entire season as different people are conned in FNCS

there has been people banned for using DMA cheats that went undetected for months, won cash cups, played on alts to farm weaker regions for money etc. look at wolvax, he got caught doing this, got banned, and is now somehow back competing

retired pros have sold their accounts to known rage hackers, won FNCS and qualified for the global LAN, and only got caught because they had to send the retired guy to the LAN and he couldn't stop gossiping about it

plenty of situations where teams who are friends land near each other and trade surge, soft team etc (not really applicable to val though)

kids on NA that got swatted, parents received threats etc because they are conning a drop

however i think with the riot anticheat it's a lot more difficult to cheat on this scale and get away with it, easy anticheat was absolutely horrible for a long time

I know about the hackers in the early FNCS years but I swear it's gotten better recently no? The teaming situation is the one I've heard is the most fucked recently, didn't they temp-ban 2 diff people just a couple months ago for teaming during qualifiers.

Also like what's the worst that someone could do in Val, it has to be gameplay related cheats cause streamsniping won't matter with their delay right? So videotaping setup should theoretically work

The cheaters were absolutely atrocious towards the end of chapter 5/chapter 6, every single tournament had at least one cheater playing in. It's not as bad on the major regions anymore, but the minor regions like ME are still won by cheaters regularly

However yeah, there isn't as much risk of e.g. swatting, ddossing etc in Valorant as the teams are actual organisations instead of just three kids in a discord server

As long as they can keep gameplay cheats under control they won't have the same problems as Fortnite did, but to say Fortnite has no problems is definitely not true lol

i mean its just semiopen system from before but with seeding partners and cross-regional qualification. prob there will be some drama about available spots but its the best and most fair format you can get without opening completely the system

yeah but no group play either is fucking bogus, like before you would do open qualis into a split but theyre trying the "everything is a tournament" shite.

It just feels like instead of building up storylines and new teams, Rito is just constantly trying to jingle the keys in front of us to keep us interested

pre franchising was way more boring that what we had now, watching the players play on LAN every week is way more fun than online
