I know it's a bit hard for this site to not have recency bias, but does anyone else think this international is on the lower side out of all of them in terms of enjoyment? I think the crowd did a lot of the heavy lifting here. Doesn't mean to say I am not enjoying it, I have and I'm definitely looking forward to NS vs PRX; I'm just curious how other people see it, not sure if it's because of the meta or what

i don’t think there was much hype surrounding the tournament in general, not much content was made around it. the meta being ass didn’t help either
they prob will tomorrow, i doubt they do one for each individual game but grand finals makes sense
This is a huge one. Teasers, a little bit more content for the tournament and some proper walkouts would have been great. I can understand that the meta has meant that the game is more scrappy and brawlly, but there have been solid moments of gameplay that made for entertaining highlights. The meta definitely needs to invite back the initiator as a more viable option especially since Breach is dead in the dirt as an agent pick.
Even though we had a lot of rookie teams, I think that's what made this tournament more fun even if 3/4 Top 4 teams were what we expected. And suffice to say, the expected teams still play some of the more fun Valorant.
I've thoroughly enjoyed this tournament and think that this might be a tough bar to surpass given that this tournament introduced a whole lot of new faces to the international stage. And of course, the crowd always makes the wins more worth it. I think it's why Masters Shanghai is a rather controversial tournament in enjoyment due to the relatively biased native crowd against GENG.
I'm not saying I haven't enjoyed this tournament because I have, I just think it's lower down compared to the rest; I'm curious which team you have been rooting for though if you enjoyed this so much, not that the reasons are related
I naturally am more drawn to the more aggro teams like PRX and some of TL's plays early doors. I was hoping FURIA would go on a run, but first international nerves probably got to them. I will say China has mostly disappointed with the exception being AG. Even though it's widely agreed AG felt like the flukiest 1st seed, they still were somewhat enjoyable to watch when they got going.
I have this tournament a bit high up personally because super slow teams like FNC (no shade to your flair) didn't make it. Of course, there were some super slow rounds from teams this tournament including some "melons" moments, but I like when a lot of the teams choose to be fast, dynamic and really give it to the opposition.
I don't take offence to people not wanting to watch FNC games just like I don't particularly enjoy watching NRG games, it's just preference. But appreciate why you thought this event was more fun to watch compared to others
i don't remember shanghai at all but that's really only because i was asleep through literally all the games lol
Shanghai genuinely was the biggest disappointment due to basically every first seed crashing out including a hyped up PRX and it basically being a 3-way battle between GENG (crowd's enemy), TH (playing with a sub) and G2 (playing the most mind-numbing, by-the-book Valorant with icy on duelist).
also nearly half the teams being rookie teams (AG, BBL, FURIA, M8, NS) + china being very underwhelming has a big part in that
this tournament lacked bangers, crowd is fantastic but almost all of the games have been kinda one-sided; in swiss only prx-nrg went to map 3, in playoffs we had 3 mappers but very few close maps;
also riot made no content regarding this so made it quite bland
honestly yeah there really hasn't been many games that were super close, hopefully the GF delivers on that

Could be bias but I think this tournament lacked underdogs (not to say Nongshims run wasnt impressive) which are usually accomplished by chinese teams

Pretty boring for sure. Depending on finals it might be the most boring masters for me since franchising started.
Swiss was too ass. Even playoffs haven't been that fun in terms of games. Lot of stomped maps. Also many new orgs or non clouted teams and players so not that much hype surrounding them.
It's mainly just the games not being as fun. I think the meta is getting stale too. Snowball is one of the reason games aren't as fun. It's not as bad as kickoff but there is still so much snowball.
tournament was great.....matches were great..crowd was awesome.... negligible tech pauses also.....
the only issue was Marketing around this tourny sucked ass... no hype was generated even over socials.... which is why it feels OKish
I usually enjoy almost all of the matches for every international, but this time around i`ve been fixated on watching TL,NS,T1, for the most of it.(teams i like)
Maybe it is because of the scarcity of bangers and not enough hype around it?
Yeah, no C9 was a disappointment. Most people expected them to make it here.
