I am well aware that China is the largest market, but the same logic applies to football: FIFA doesn't grant China a direct seed into the World Cup. China is also weak in CS, and Valve doesn't give Chinese teams direct slots for the Majors. If Valorant is to be a real esport, competitive integrity cannot be compromised for the sake of profit. The presence of Chinese teams only lowers the quality of the matches and pushes out superior teams from other regions. They should be integrated into the Pacific and forced to compete for those slots like everyone else.

It’s not about granting the biggest market or not. It’s about longevity of the scene. FIFA can sustain itself without China because of how popular football is , having them makes 0 difference when it’s the most popular sport worldwide and most played sport.
Esports in the other hand is already a terrible investment and without China I guarantee you things will turn out very differently from what riot wants. Just look at how many teams have been kicked out the past 2 years will literally tell you that this esports scene is not stable at all
what about CS? If CS esports can survive without CHINA, I believe valorant can.
either way it would require a complete rework of the scene, CS teams qualify through their rating gained at events, 90% of which are not events made by valve
val doesn't work like that at all so it makes more sense to just give regions the same slots
Americas Kickoff viewership went from 350k in 2024 to 250k in 2025 to 200k in 2026. i think they need china or find some way to revitalize americas viewership

fr. americas didnt even make it out of swiss stage in worlds and emea only had g2 who insta lost first round of playoffs. they're so far behind the kr and cn teams. i still remember flyquest going to 5 maps with geng was a miracle as the only team out of the west.
why complain though you get free investment into the esport and they're always well below par for a region in terms of performances so it doesn't affect the event too much
