is the line between tier 1 and 2 not real?

riot's league system made it so that tier 1 is artificial, the first year of partnership we had truly awful teams

now I feel that in both tiers 90% are almost indistinguishable then there's the 10% like aspas forsaken alfa etc, like ara was in tier 3(?) a year ago now he's doing ok, it's all about the environment and opportunities and not pure skill level from my perspective

like what I mean is that if a consistent tier 2 player were given the chance to work in a proper tier 1 environment and roster they would do just fine, since doma just did that

wouldn’t say 90% but the upper part of tier two and the lower part of tier one are near identical, not to say that there arent some questionable teams in tier 1 though

yes 90% is a bit of an exaggeration but the truth is with proper coaching and support tier 2 teams that are formed organically would do better than tier 1 frankenstein teams if you get me

There is a huge gap between the top T2 and everything else. Top Tier 2 teams like Envy, Stellae, etc would be fine against most T1 teams I guess.

exactly, like the top tier 2 and middle tier 1 is indistinguishable, then there's the top teams that consistently make intl

a lot of teams that were formed in 23' were formed cause of familiar names and nepotism

yes that's what made it artificial, in paper it's a good idea but in reality people are lazy, so the horrendous 2023 rosters like DFM and RRQ happened

There's a gap but tbh even that gap is created artificially due to better structure, better coaching and basically everything that's supportive like training, practice etc etc is better in tier 1 than tier 2 which does create a gap but if you somehow equalise everything many tier 2 teams would go toe to toe with most tier 1 teams .

true, it's a chain reaction overtime that makes the league system and tier 1 better over time but overall the line is still blurry

when i watched penny's stream he said that tier 2 is harder than t1 bc of the randomness of t2 teams
