i look at japan tier 2 and notice how good a lot of their players are but then i see their teams in tier 1 struggling and wonder how a team this talented doesn’t show any results

like its very weird, japan is consistently underperforming but i’m looking as these very talented players and i can’t wrap my head around why they can’t find success

tier 2 orgs have more fans and money hence they keep their talented players , DFM and ZETA scout off of unsuccessful japanese teams who want to make changes

Dogshit coaching in tier1. Like the DFM coach is nepo pick from 2017 who did nothing in tier2-3 let alone tier1 one, Melofovia is legendary paycheck stealer at this point.

The coaches are in tier2 but Zeta and DFM literally haven't ever tried poaching them for some reason, even tho the Jadeite, Scarz old Fennels and especially Riddle coaching staff is great.

no igl+ no good coaching staff + terrible T2 to T1 pipeline (contract jails, no will to play in T1 ect...)

This. No IGL is imo the biggest factor. Joxjo is arguably the most important player to Riddle's success

Tier 2 is extremely popular in Japan, and the salaries are very high.
That's why Japanese players are satisfied with Tier 2 and don't try to move up to Tier 1.
One example of this was ShouTa in 2023.
SyouTa competed against Jemkin, iZu, and Meiy in the same year and recorded the same rating as them.
However, SyouTa stated that Tier 2 was sufficient, and remained in Tier 2 for 2024 as well.
By the time he moved up to Tier 1 in 2025, SyouTa had already declined.

japan tier 2 is the largest source of players in the pacific: 90% of korean players from japan have been successful over the past three years since 2023. And there are the formidable russian players, Something and Jemkin.

Meanwhile, during that period, all japanese players except Meiy were very mid. While their performance was similar in tier 2, why do japanese players always seem to fail? Is their mouse click speed inherently slower than other players'? It doesn't make any sense..

When asked on vlr, coaching or environmental issues are often cited first. That could be a reason, cuz It's actually a mess. On the other hand, Koreans have incredibly expensive facilities that can mass-produce emotionless killing robots. Oh, Can't do much about it!
Nah, Yet japanese players are worse at teamwork than boys on the verge of getting jobs at factories they randomly found in rural areas of SEA.

There is more fundamental cultural issue at play on an individual basis. And it won't change easily.
