my understanding of ai and llms is rudimentary but from what i know gen ai is good at "predicting" what the next best word to say is and that depends on its training data. if enough of its data says "2+2 is 5" it will with complete confidence say that. idk if i can properly define what i think sentience is but gen ai (in its current state atleast) doesnt really think at all which is like a minimum requirement for sentience imo
