is so overused. the first time people used that term in 2020 was cause the fucking nba was going on without a crowd/homecourt, an important thing in sports AND covid was a thing. A single team "not being 100%" doesnt make the tourney mickey mouse

that being said i will still jokingly call any tourney mickey mouse if i didnt like who won it

edit: small misinfo, "mickey mouse" didnt start in 2020 please refer to #4

2020 nba was called covid ring not mickey ring. the new NBA CUP is called mickey mouse. so in VCT relevancy EWC is pretty similar

yep they made the playoffs isolated in disneyworld, its called mickey mouse because the NBA that season played much less games and no intensity cus no crowd, basically much lower prestige and quality

not to be that guy but in english football, cups like the efl trophy, carabao cup etc have been called mickey mouse for decades, defo didn’t start during covid in the nba. in tournaments the best team always wins, at the end of the day format doesn’t really matter, meta doesn’t matter, circumstances don’t matter, whoever is better wins and anything other than that is just cope.

edit: ““Mickey Mouse” is another way to refer to something as “low quality” in the UK, the term popped up after the second world war after a huge amount of low-quality counterfeit Mickey Mouse watches flooded the country.”
