good game plagued by lack of updates or communication. An operation would be great but if its only an operation and nothing else itll die back down in 3 months

Idk, they're going back to before CS2 was announced number, and even starting to go lower than that. That shouldn't be what you expect for a huge decade-old game that's got a major update. I think the game just feels like shit rn. Even CS frogs don't argue with that it seems from the Reddit comments.

Well CS frogs aint gonna agree if it comes from a Valorant player but generally yeah.

Im not aware of what the average playercount was before cs2 but if thats the case then yeah thats a big problem.

1.1mil to 730k seems fine tho idk, I know a lot of people personally who never played cs and just installed the new one for a day.

And yeah it feels like shit. Ive played it, the performance was underwhelming, graphics were cool at first but got old quickly, everyone knows how the movement feels (not good) and the rest is just worse CS:GO.

The only thing I would be concerned about with the 1.1mil to 730k is that you're going below you're previous average of around 800K. Now, there could be some sort of lurking variable that's causing this, but the obvious conclusion would be that CS2 is a downgrade for some CSGO fans.

However, Playerbases fluctuate all the time. People tend to lose interest, and whenever the next update (at valve pace maybe 2026) happens, the player base will go back.

Yup, not an upgrade for sure, and thats what was expected from it.

On the other hand CS2 is much more future proof and has more potential so im sure the game will be fine.

Ya it will stabilize. A lot of people were just checking out the new game.

I would play surf, KZ or 1v1 arenas in CSGO almost daily. Then CS2 came out and it felt like Valorant with CS characteristics.

If I wanted to play Valorant, I would play Valorant.

I can’t even enjoy surf or kz anymore, because the movement in CS2 is that bad. It’s truly a travesty that they destroyed the best game in CSGO.

fr, I played csgo for the MOVEMENT when I was tired of that terrible sluggish valorant one but now its scuffed.

There needs to be studies into how Valve fumbled the bag so hard on CS2. I initially though it was just an overinflated player base and they went back to normal, but they're starting to go below CS2 being announced numbers.

Funnily enough, I'm starting to enjoy CS esports more, but holy shit is playing that game a pain. I even like a lot of the changes they made to CS2, 13 rounds, smokes etc. It's just playing the actual game feels like torture sometimes, constant cheaters, bad netcode, mollies look really bad (more of a personal opinion).

hot take i think but CS2 feels more confusing and cluttered than VALORANT now, despite having only smokes and mollies as utility.

At least thats what it felt like to me some time back when I had it installed.

Depends on what you mean by confusing. I play a lot of valorant so when I see the ability dump clips that go viral, they tend to not be really confusing, but put me on Anubis and there's more than 2 pieces of util and I don't know what's happening.

Just depends on what you're used to.

Me playing Valorant more surely plays a role and from my experience cs2 is more confusing than csgo.

Visually, not a fan of cs2.

I have like 200hours on CS in total and played it way before Valorant so im not totally new to CS.

the only thing cs2 needs is kernel level anticheat like faceit, esea, vanguard, etc
