Masters Madrid concerns

With only 8 teams participating doesn't that make the whole event as a whole seem less significant that lets say, Copenhagen or Tokyo? I feel like the winning team might feel a bit of the "Micky mouse Tournament" effect. I think that Masters should be at a similar level of significance to champions.

Vlr users can call every event a "micky mouse tournament" anyway it wouldn't matter

At least it's gonna be the best of the best against each other. Banger games everywhere

I think there should be at least 3 slots for each region, just 8 teams is little

well its supposed to be a kickoff tournament and riot couldn't squeeze in all those games into the time they want to. It should not be considered as a mickey mouse tournament tho.

I hope we can have a tournament like lock/in again, a tournament with 43 teams would be crazy

6* teams, the chinese slots are not to be counted. Mark my words the chinese teams will win only when they play against themselves.

and now that I think about it how would 3 from each region even work? you would have to have a group stage for the teams who place 2nd and 3rd to get 8 teams for a playoff bracket and to do that there would need to be almost double the amount of games as there would need to be a group stage as well, this would have the same amount of games as a regular masters when this is supposed to be a kickoff tournament

would be tough, 2 regular season, 2 masters, 1 champions, 1 ascension and 1 GC Champions. Need offseason turney + time for Ascension VISA to partnership country.

Top 2 qualifying means that no frauds get to play . All games are higher quality and all teams who qualified remained consistent throughout the season
But imo 12 teams wouldve been better because for some regions like pacific and cn the competition isnt great so even #3 can face international teams and get experience

EDG is a serious contending team, I don't know why you are living in the past here, EDG was knocked out by 3rd place in Champs in a extremely close game and with the insane improvement we have seen from them there's no saying what heights they can reach next year

It’s still better than Lock in I’d say

It feels like it Denies the underdog storyline quite a lot, I mean of the 2nd best teams of each region this year can you really call any of them underdogs except Billi Billi

NAVI
FNC
LOUD
EG
PRX
DRX
EDG
BLG

The underdog storyline is so important in Valorant due to how common they are and how they can break Valorant into a whole new country, example: (ZETA AND JAPAN) and also EDG'S run at Tokyo significantly boosted the games popularity in China during release.

No, Just because they beat giants and BLG in champs does not make them a top 6 team as some believe. Unlike Tokyo people had figured out how to play when KK was op'ing, they also relied on a lot of clutches to win against GIA, and looked lost on maps like Ascent, Pearl etc,,, against PRX, LOUD etc. If they are a serious contending team they should have beaten any good team in champs who were not from their regions LCQ qualifier.

I find it interesting that everyone keeps saying things like “2 teams from each region mean only the best teams make it!!!!”

In my experience having less teams allows for MORE fluke teams to make it. A mediocre team who has a hot run could end up barley qualifying before a much better team who had a rough start or a few outlier games.
