Sounds like this is what happened from their tweets. They should have started off with lower pay in 2023 and increased it after winning the tournament, and they'd have stayed.

i think the players should stay anyways because most teams wont want to pay the buyout so theres a decent chance they cant play next year.

also league min + free housing is still a good deal.
