if 3/6 of the american teams are budget (C9, 100T, EG), that's so ass. it feels like the players that deserve to be at the top don't make it. and if none of these orgs can pay their players and provide stability (even after winning Champs lmao), who's gonna want to play this shit years into the future? I miss the berlin days. CSGO better, idk how they do it.

ngl budget doesn't matter. what is a player going to do? not play in tier 1?

also, their budget salary is still higher than other regions'

yeah but bc of budget, someone like yay didn't play in T1 for a whole year and most likely will move regions. in the meantime, theyre trialling screwface for C9 like what???

salary correction was long long long overdue. ppl were chasing el dorado before, now they realize esports is much more like Topeka, and they've already spent all their money.

does it suck? yes

do players deserve reasonable pay? yes

is a salary correction needed to save the scene from dying due to bankruptcy? also yes

Dude, the scene will be fine. The whole “budget” stuff is teams realizing they can’t just spend whatever money they want and actually have to be smart with how they use money, which will lead to more sustainable spending in the future. And tbh budget in Americas is still a shit ton of money

if I'm making league min, or like 50k or even 100k playing Val, no way in hell, id stick to that career path. its so unstable and u get kicked for one bad performance in a tournament. These guys live in LA, which is where I'm based, and 50k means ur living paycheck to paycheck. I know the scene is coming down to earth, which is what I mean when it sucks now. The whole thing feels unsustainable and like it will die soon, which makes me sad bc I've been following it avidly since Berlin.

The 50k minimum salary does not include sponsorships, earnings, signing bonuses, or incentives, so as far as we know players could make way more than their salary says. Lots of orgs also offer housing for their players, so that’s another expense that’s taken off. But I doubt orgs are even offering their starting roster league minimum, that type of salary is probably gonna be a thing that their bench players/loan players are paid, and players definitely won’t want to play for league minimum, that’s the whole reason why EG is kinda falling apart now. But orgs are definitely able to pay enough to pay a livable wage for players, and if they can’t then riot will keep them accountable.
