Someone Explain

I remember back when Ascension was ongoing there was a huge concern regarding what would happen to The Guard players if they ascended, because at the time everyone knew the organization was stingy. However, I remember seeing multiple times that it wasn't the organization that ascended, but the players. Meaning, the players were guaranteed to compete regardless of an organization backing them. Is that not the case anymore, or ever was?

If that isn't the case, then (hypothetically) what would happen to a team that qualified through Open Qualifiers, then qualified to Ascension through Challengers League, and ultimately won Ascension with no organizational backing at all?

Riot says they would allow them to find a team, that's what doesn't make sense here. If they just treat the ex-Guard players as a FA roster it's fine

Riot would help them find an org, but apparently it's impossible now because TGRD players are F/A AFTER the deadline, which means their dumbasses didn't bother to create a protocol for this instance

Thanks for the explanation. Really questionable from Riot to say the least

what I don't get is Leo saying they don't want to set a "precedent" of orgs selling their roster to another org after ascending

but isn't the guard dropping their entire roster?

Are they worried about the guard saying they are dropping their roster but really getting money?

and wouldn't that be easily detectable unless the guard wants to commit fraud?

makes zero sense to me tbh
