Step 1. Find 5 newborns. Method doesnt matter. Adoption, kidnapping, etc.
Step 2. Force these kids into a gaming room. Top of the line PCs. Top of the line internet.
Step 3. Do not let these kids find out about the outside world. Gaming is all they know.
Step 3a. In the event the kids find out about the outside world, pass it off as a silly joke.
Step 4. Train them to be a perfect team. Figure out which one is mechanically superior. That is your fragger. The rest are support mains.
Step 5. Create or partner with an organization. Make sure the organization does not even think about signing someone outside these 5 kids.
Step 6. Let the money come to you.

Let's assume that all you need to pay for is food, water, and the occasional outfit for when they outgrow their old one

In New York, food costs about $486.71 a month per person. x5 is $2433.55 x12 is $29202.60 a year.
If you buy each kid an outfit per year, and each outfit costs $150, that is $750 a year. You are spending $29952.60 a year.
Yay was payed $1m to join c9 for a couple months (iirc).
Yeah, its worth

edit: i forgot. to be franchised you need to be 17. therefore, that is $509194.20 spent before even a chance of profit. (assuming your team goes straight to franchising, skipping ascension/t3 and under tournaments). That is something to keep in mind...

this also does not including $ spent on bills such as electricity or internet. +we have to assume at some point one of the kids keyboards, monitors, mice, headphones, etc. breaks. these are also costs we need, and we havent even considered what we are giving the kids as default. of course, if all goes according to plan, you make the money back and then some in only a month.
