there's just not enough PC gaming experience in India yet. like South East Asia have been participating in esports since 20 years ago back in the SC brood war days (I guess since the beginning of esports kek), it takes time to develop stuff like this

There are multiple issues which have been highlighted, including SEA teams not wanting to scrim because of ping to individual skill gap. Overall, neither players nor orgs are serious about improvement. Prep starts 2 months before tournaments rather than year preparation.

General issues:

  1. Scrim culture: Teams are too focused on winning scrims , instead of using the scrims to fix issues and test ideas.
  2. Scrim quality: Inability to scrim good teams outside of the region due to ping and other factors.
  3. Lack of mentors: There are a lack of good mentors in the scene to lead the next generation of players.
  4. Short term focused: Orgs want instead success instead of trying to build a long term project.

Mentality:

  1. Composure: many players suffer from a lack of composure and make plays/mistakes which they shouldn't do.
  2. Motivation: players aren't willing to put in the extra time and hours than other pros do.
  3. Effort: There are players who get pick up repeatedly despite being on failed project which allows them to not put the effort in required because they will likely to be picked up again
