From ascension to vct and back

So i couldn’t find any useful info anywhere about this. So, let’s say that for example Apeks qualifies for VCT 2024, and they play there for 2 years, after the 2 years, are they just immediately dropped back to challengers, or is there any chance they stay in vct for longer? Also, will some team qualify for vct every year and stay there for 2 years and get dropped back to challengers after that? I’m confused how this all works :D the league just expands every year if some team qualifies every year no?? Or has riot told us some year or something when the system will change? Maybe a dumb question but thanks in advance for helping me to understand this!

I think they just leave the franchise after 2 years so its gonna finalize as 33 teams each region or something

any team that makes franchising from this point on is only confirmed for one year no? because isnt relegation going to begin at the end of next year’s season? so each year starting in 2024, one team will join from ascension and one will drop mayb. not really sure how many teams will be relegated each year though and unsure when this system will start too.

take what i say w a grain of salt i dont really know much

they would be automatically relegated iirc

this is my own opinion here, but I think that there has to be some type of relegation playoff, make the winner of ascension play against the promoted team who's two years are up to play for the spot

2 years

meaning relegation wont start next yr? because what would happen if say guard makes franchising this year but bottoms out next year? the second worst team is relegated? a bit weird no?

Basically 1 team per region ascends every year and after 2 years get's out this stays this way until 2026

Starting 2026 2 teams start ascending having a total of 14 teams per region by 2028 (no plans for after 2028)

I didn't find information about the year you are relegated but if I had to bet and seeing the system in the VCL's I would say the team relegated have an opportunity to qualify again if they win against the teams who are competing to ascend so I would say they play in Ascention of the year they are relegated making them need to prove themselves if they want to continue

Sorry but wrong #11 at least in part it's that way but only until 2026 (this year already 13 teams)

In theory the team would go back to Challengers, but I think Riot could keep a team if it does well

so if you win ascension and then in your 2nd year you win champions and then you get relegated because its only 2 years? i dont understand

Exactly my thoughts here. It seems so dumb, of course it’s highly unlikely that a team would go from challengers to winning champions in 2 years but i mean, it’s possible

Pretty much yes idk if there will be any chance they participate in Ascension that year but if the schedule is the same as is it now they are basically at least 1 year in cooldown and only next year can ascend again or Riot making another tourney or game with Ascension winner with team to be relegated for the spot

they get relegated after 2 years but the slots are from riot so if they see a team trolling witht their slot maybe they get the ascension team the slot permanently and send idk (to give an example) kcorp or heretics to tier 2 challengers.
