On one side we got teams that get knocked out before playoffs race barely bc of map and RND differential and we have a playoff where 4/6 teams get to qualify! What's the fun in that?
Why not just make playoffs a 8 teams tournament?
hanafuuji [#2]of course it's the sentinels flair...
Tournament formats for EMEA and Americas are the same. It's just a poorly thought out format. We could have more competition in the playoffs with teams on the same level and multiple teams having similar points in Americas prove that.
The dumb thing here is the fact that even if a team wins or loses they have to win once to qual only in the lower bracket. That means that the winning team from the current matches has to play 1extra game before qualification. The losing team goes to qualification match either way. So winning here would be insignificant for the most part.
Selex [#6]A regular season where 8/10 teams qualify? Not that i've never seen it before but it feels strange outside of certain circumstances. Also 4/6 are only qualifying because of the extra slot that fnatic earned at lock-in.
yeah but one particular league will always have that extra slot for winning the masters trophy iinm
Mortadelo [#4]Winning the regular season has to have a very big advantage
bonus points for top 2 may be? And also, there's seeding adv.

Seeding advantage is not enough. If you make it an 8 team playoff, then the regular season is basically useless

Yea but that still isnt enough of a reason to change the format when 2/3 don't imo. Honestly I wouldn't worry about it too much. The format will literally have to change year after year until we get to the 14 intended teams in each international league. Maybe they'll be doing 8 team playoffs by then.
