Top 10 Duelists so far 2023

God Tier(undisputed top 3)

  1. Sayf (I know hot take but given the cards he's been dealt no one has played above their team more than he has, I'm completely down to debate abt this and I don't mind having the other two over him but he has been the reason for TL's success so far.)
  2. derke
  3. aspas
    ------------------------
Next Best Tier( Jett gods with another agent they are good but not quite top 3 level at)
  4. cNed
  5. leaf
    ------------------------
All Around (Plays both Jett and Raze well)
  6. qw1
  7. Foxy9
    ---------------
Jett Tier (Pretty much Jett one tricks but very good at it)
  8. QutionerX
  9. something
  10. ardiis(remember specifically on Jett)

H.M because they haven't fully been on duelist but have had flashes
BuZz, Victor, Suggest

Definitely some hot takes on here but the way I see it, only about 7 players ITW are playing both Jett and Raze at a high level(for leaf Neon and cNed Yoru) consistently so for the last 3 spots I feel like it's fair to just pick the next 3 best Jetts from overall form and Qutioner has been great on Jett and the best on BBL for a while, something is showing how good he can be but he's really just a one trick atm, and for all of the hate Ardiis gets on specifically Jett he is top 10 ITW on the agent no competition, and because it's the best character rn that makes me sneak him in. Sayf one may upset people and I don't think its the consensus but I truly believe no duelist is playing the role better atm, though Derke and Aspas are obviously unbelievable performers. Last thought, but IMO if my HM players were full time duelists they would be some of the best in the world, they just are pushed to different roles for the good of the team or, in suggests case, just now got a chance to start playing duelist.

Overall Regional Rankings:

EU: 5/10 (6 if you count ardiis), 3/5 are also Turkish
Americas: 3/10(2 if you count ardiis for EU players), no LATAM
APAC: 2/10

ATM EU and specifically Turkey are the best for developing duelists in 2023(and they still have sociablee among others waiting to be called up) and LATAM/general APAC outside of Korea is struggling to have duelists with success. Lemme know who you think I left out or if I'm just a dumbass for my takes.

Derke diffed Sayf hard in the series between them but I dont mind seeing sayf at no1 although I would prefer Derke to be at the no1 and sayf at no2. Demon1 should also be somewhere in this top10 imo since he really stepped up not only as a Jett but as a Brimstone and Killjoy he was insanely good so that adds more to his value.

I def see the Derke point but it's also fair to acknowledge that Derke gets the 2 best initiators in the world to set him up who combine for 1 assists per round together, whereas sayf gets Jamppi and Soulcas who average .7 assists per round. Derke for sure has done it against the best teams more often which is why he probably has the slight edge but I still think Sayf's stats and impact are just too high. And as for Demon1 he really only plays Jett on duelist(this list has nothing to do with their ability on other agents) and his Jett is good but I'm not talking it over Qutioner Ardiis or Something's.

As specifically a supportive initiator for a duelist the difference between him and Leo is night and day, but as an individual fragger and player they are much closer. Still works with my point that Derke gets much more help to frag than Sayf does.

Derke has never been in a team with top tier players before current FNC. U can't compare Chronicle and Leo to Mistic or Enzo

Until then, Saadhak, pANcada and Less were not top tier players either.
At most of these, only the saadhak was known internationally and was not even as well regarded as Sacy

aspas was +1 against derke in the h2h + super team tax

aspas supporting cast:
tuyz: first LAN and first tournament playing smokes (was a jett one trick his whole career)
cauanzin: only LAN experience was getting grouped at 2022 reykjavik
less: top 3 sentinel itw
saadhak: arguably best igl itw, easily top 3

derke supporting cast
chronicle: had an argument for best player itw for a period of time when he was playing for gambit, best player in 2021 champs, top 3 flex itw
leo: superstar and was always in the talks for best initiator in EMEA when he was on guild, top 3 arguably best initiator in the world
alfajer: fringe top 10-15 player itw, regressed a bit at lock in due to playing more sentinel but still arguably a top 5 sentinel itw
boaster: top 5-7ish igl in the world, was previously on fraud watch before getting a win with a superteam (still on fraud watch if fnatic dont win another LAN)

derke is a generational player who couldve achieved so much as the clear-cut no 1 guy, but fnatic had to stack the odds in their favor when they already had a top 3 caliber player who could already carry teams to deep runs with subpar players. they wouldve likely won rekyjavik if they had him and braveaf, they just had to surround him with good role players like they already were but instead they recruited superstars. any championships that he wins during this fnatic era will always have an asterisk.

Ya that's the one thing I have against him is he just doesn't play against anyone good, and when he did play against GEN and PRX he was bottom rating, but I think come Tokyo he will be seen as top 10 anyway. ATM he could be anywhere from 6th to like 20th on my list but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt because he's playing both Jett and Raze which no one else in APAC is able to do rn, apart from maybe Saya and Suggest.

Something is definitely one to keep an eye on, a walking highlight real.
I'm still not sure if PRX's looseness is an advantage for duelist players or not.
He doesn't quite get the support that derke or aspas gets but he has more freedom.

Foxy9 is an interesting one, probably the most aggressive duelist in vct right now.
He has alot of potential especially playing for a team as strong as DRX.

Aspas is amazing, however the way Loud plays kinda sets him up for kills.
He doesn't need to take as many first duels as other duelist as the double controller comps they play create enough space for them.

Something is a highlight reel cuz he plays on 0.7 800 DPI or so, his transfers look sick when he hits them, he's fast af

you can't compare the final boss to derke.

derke has won a mickey mouse tournament, aspas is a world champion.
