How deep is your knowledge, your top 20 players?

The obvious caveat here is that there's hardly anyone who can be considered the definite best player in the world. They are also made a bit more incomparable by their roles as well as the game which has oriented itself more towards strategies and team-chemistry increasingly. With that said, that won't stop us from arguing and hurling abuses against each other's best player.

I'll start, you might be able to gauge your own seasoned understanding by the conviction with which you view your placements. OK, here's my list; it is unavoidably arbitrary and based on eye-test and intuition to a certain extent. While achievements are a factor to me, I don't weigh them too heavily, I just prefer pure skills from what I've personally seen. A lot of players are unlucky and success consists of factors outside of their control. In addition, I also think some of the players' enjoyed the unbalanced meta and that their values were inflated beyond their actual level owing to the unbalanced agents.

Moreover, I think it's fair to consider the best player as the one who performed the best in the recent tournament, because there is a large gap between tourneys so any data we have coming into a tournament is likely outdated. This also prevents being surprised at the overperformance and underperformance of players, since there was a lot of time for change. IGL and tenz and cned ignored.

((All-time best for me: 1) Chronicle 2) yay 3) derke 4) less 5) shao 6) aspas 7) nats 8) crashies 9) mako 10) marved))

  1. Leo
  2. Shao
(hard time deciding between Shao and Leo, I think Shao performs more consistently on LAN but Leo is more monstrous regionally)
  3. Mako
(godlike consistency for the longest time)
  4. Less
    (best player on LOUD)
  5. Derke
    (self-explanatory)
  6. Aspas
    (self-explanatory)
  7. Chronicle
(all time GOAT imo, godlike flexibility and consistency)
  8. nAts
    (nAts is still nAts)
  9. crashies
(underrated consistency, i'd say the best player on OpTic considered all-time for pure value he brings to the team, his imapct is more subtle)
  10. Sayf (underrated imo, his mechanics are divine, would even rank him just below aspas but would get flamed for it)
  11. Stax
  12. Suygetsu (good multi killer but loses every 1v1 under the sun imo)
  13. Alfajer
  14. Marved
  15. JINGG
  16. Pancada
  17. Sacy
  18. Zyppan
  19. dgzin
  20. zekken (controversial)
  21. k1ng
  22. trexx
  23. qw1
  24. meteor
  25. zmjjkk
  26. sugarz3ro
  27. f0rsaken

  29. mwzera
  30. cned
  31. nivera
  32. ScreaM

All those in 21 are interchangeable, I should've included ScreaM, you're right. Peak ScreaM is a thing to behold. I'll add him. Updated!

Personally I don't like seeing jingg here based on his lockin and recent vpl performances, but he was good last year... I'm still not a fan of it tbh

I have conflicting feelings about him, I might peg him lower now but his mechanics were good last time I saw him.

Jinggg and Marved at 11 and 12 and Suy and Alfa at 17 and 18 LMAO. I'll give you this tho. You got the top 2 right

Leo and Shao are my top 3 players alongside Chronicle as well.

As for JINGG and Marved, time might've diluted my impression, but Marved's peak with Omen against LOUD cannot be just attributed to luck. Suygetsu makes me conflicted. Alfajer, fair, I might have pegged him too low.

Idk man i don't think it's terrible. Just a bit outdated. Sayf is def better than Crashies, kingg is definitely top 20 and Dgzin isn't. qw1 is absolutely better than Dgzin also, Sacy doesn't belong there rn but besides those it's really not as bad as some make it out to be. Btw this is just my opinion ofc

Sure, but personally dgzin has not only impressed me but derke and boaster who have explicitly remarked him as the most underrated player in the world, you can look it up or I can link you, with boaster even naming him as one of the toughest opponents he had faced alongside Leo and others.

Crashies is not just what you see in game. This guy makes a shit ton of good calls actually, I was really surprised and impressed with his calls. FNS definitely relies on him more than one thinks.

That's great and all but Sayf has a shout to be the most inform player in the world right now

I fucking love Sayf but Crashies has been the best Initiator in NA and one of the best itw for like 2 almost 3 years now. That's insane consistency, and the value he brings in making calls and reads is a huge bonus.

I think the only time Crashies has lost form a significant amount was at Champs 21.

I think it's just your EMEA favouritism, because while I've been a Sayf believer since he dismantled OpTic at Copenhagen we haven't seen him match Crashies in terms of impact, success, and consistency....yet.

Yup but we're not talking about 2021 we're talking about right now and it's not even close right now form wise. Also i'll tell you this, Sayf actually does the midround calling for TL

I know Sayf does the midrounding for TL.

As for "not even close right now form wise" the two are on different roles. Sayf is obviously more likely to take over a game when he's playing Jett every map. Don't forget we also take into account recent results from LOCK//IN, where TL got first rounded by TS, whereas NRG had an extremely close game with 2nd place.

MaKo is 3rd on the original list for his consistency, why should Crashies's consistency be ignored?

Confused as to why players like Shin are in contention for 21 when Meteor, Laz, ZmjjKK, xffero/tehbotol, Sayaplayer, k1Ng, xeta, SugarZ3ro, Trent, Nukkye, Shyy, keznit have achieved more while performing better.

edit:
"best player as the one who performed the best in the recent tournament"

this is fair, but Meteor, ZmjjKK, k1Ng, SugarZ3ro, Nukkye, and Shyy have all performed better than Shin at LOCK//IN and in their respective VPL/VAL/VELs. And Trent is arguably one of, if not the best non-franchised player(s) in the world.

I didn't care about #21 too much, I just purposed it for honorable mentions at the top of my head while being biased towards relatively unknown names.

Very fair. Updated it. Maybe I'll update the list as more input come in.
