G2 ShahZaM - how an IGL can win you matches

I missed most of the matches yesterday because of work so now that I am goin back and watching, it's clear how much Shahz's calls helped them win the game yesterday. Shahz's attack calling has been particularly stellar - the best examples of this are when OXY is NOT getting the entries.

In the Moist match, moist got FK in 8 out of 12 rounds. G2 won 8 out of 12 rounds on their attack regardless.

In yesterday's ascent comeback, OXY went 1-12 on the attacking half as their only entry player. On their defense, TGRD won TEN FIRST ENGAGEMENTS, but G2 went 6-6 on their attack.

Additionally, in overtime on split - shahz's calling won them rounds 26 and 27 specifically. Round 26 - G2 down a player, shahz waits out NeT's lurk in mid and kills him, instantly full team rotates over to A during the hit. ShahZ gets the second frag of the round and team is holding site in a 4v3. Round immediately after, fast A play with only raze to dive - sliggy called out on his stream what a good change of pace and ballsy call this was. G2 just need one defense round on split to win the series.

Really impressed by shahz this MSI, he's calling like a world class IGL. Last year was a rough situation in SENtinels, but yesterday he really showed what his caliber is against a strong team with strong IGL in Valyn.

post match interview, dapr said this match was a battle of two strong IGLs, and when it goes this long and hectic, it comes down to noticing holes in enemy gameplan.

I think m80 win today based on map pool, but excited for the grand finals regardless.

Fds on atk aren't always bad thing.
If properly traded it creates space for the team

True, but just from eye test a lot of these went untraded. I do think one of G2's strengths as a team is trading/teamfights - these guys are all lifetime CS pros that play with really good fundamentals.

Nice post. I am also impressed by his calling but imo Gaurd played god awful so i am curious to see how he does today. If M80 plays like they do against Guard (scared) I think he has a good chance to prove himself but if M80 are in their element im ngl im pretty worried

That makes 0 sense, they played awful cause they lost? Then I can say g2 played awful and they won?

Not saying g2 played bad, but I think that Guard at their best beats G2 at their best. There are games where teams genuinely outclass the other and games where teams kinda beat themselves. Shaz has looked great this playoffs and I hope the finals both teams play to the best of their ability. Guard has always been inconsistent

Nah there are a lot of rounds were the decision making from guard was just ass. Even if they won I would still say they played bad

You are comparing their performance to their usual "level" against worst teams. You only perceived them as not playing to their standards because they played against a strong team that was capitalizing on their mistakes and holes in their game plan. This is a common cope. "Only lost cause they played bad, they usually stomp."

Ur just coping, they make mistakes but bot teams don't capitalize on them
G2 also threw rounds they shouldn't have

I’m not coping I do not have any opinion on either team. Shaz did good job to capitalize on Valyns mistakes but they were still Valyns mistakes nonetheless. I understand both teams did not play to their ability but there was a lot of mistakes from the Guard that were individual and not forced from G2. In my opinion the Guard that beat M80 looked like a completely different team. It was a fun game to watch, again I have zero preference on teams, I just think that in terms of Shazs performance the guard game wasn’t overwhelming compared to his other games this playoff
