Too many duelists.

The pro scene has wayyy too many Duelists

Adequate amount of hard initiator players (Sova, fade, not including Kayo/breach)

Abundance of initiator flex players (Kayo/breach), probably because it's the easiest role for duelist mains to familiarize themselves with.

Not enough good IGLs.

Not enough independent smokes players. (IGLs usually fill this role if nobody else can).

The Chamber meta irreversibly created a shortage of Tier 1 Sentinel/viper/harbor players.

  1. Its easy to be crazy at aim and pop off on a duelist (In pro terms)
  2. There are plenty of good initiators and flex players
  3. It is very difficult to IGL and even harder to be a great IGL
  4. Smokes are a naturally extremely supportive role, so if it seems like they're not fragging it doesn't mean they aren't doing their job
  5. nAts, tuyz, mako, ange1, crws, s0m, skuba, pancada i could go on

Bro, I said there's a shortage not that they don't exist. Name every S tier duelist you know and out it side by side of the list you just wrote out.

theres a shortage of good smokes player in pacific

kind of in EMEA because its so large

Americas has 0 shortage of good smokes

I can think of more S tier support players than duelists 😭😭😭

Thats misleading, when all 32 lockin teams run 1 duelist comps, then that's 128 support players vs 32 duelists, no shit that the 128 hand selected best support players will perform well at this event.

This doesn't even prove anything either. My point is that there's too many duelists, the duelists that we see at lockin are only the ones that got picked up, there's way more tier 1 duelists incapable of finding their way onto a tier 1 team than support players.

it honestly depends on the region,

that is very true in pacific
there are a few duelists in EMEA that imo deserve t1, masic and woot come to mind
in Americas, there are a lot of good duelists but not a lot of GREAT duelists, t1 in Americas has the best duelists possible

also this is a problem that can only be fixed by people locking brimstone instead of jett for the first time

problem is that it’s easier to become a pro as a duelist player then role swap to something else than just going pro as a sentinel player off the bat.

Seems much more prominent in NA from what I've seen

1 smoke, 1 awper/duelist main, then 3 flex. one of the flex or even the smoke main can be igl. everyone should have cracked aim and game sense

also, 1 of the flex should specialize in entry and another in sentinel

Tbh the term flex has lost it’s meaning. It basically means that the player will mostly play initiator and then sometime switch to duelist or like viper for a map. Imo Less, Chronicle and Suygetsu are true flex players that can rotate on sentinels controllers and initiators and will perform as well as they always do. These type of players are super rare

people put way too much emphasis on 'roles'
it matters way less than you think
