Are u guys happy after beating xerxia with 80 ping gap and talk about cointoss and said it was fair? U know here in indo or Thailand we can't even reload properly on Mumbai server??

did you know that result record would affect the player much on the future??

W post. But Indians had same issue when they played on SG servers. I think we need to come to a common point and that is to ask Riot for a mutual server for the region. With GE getting franchise and so many upcoming tourneys, Riot should definitely think of this

The post would have been fair if you made a similar post 2 years ago for SA teams. Unfortunately at the moment, you just need to take the L and stfu.

Packet loss and ping are different. If you get packet loss that means you Internet is shit according to how networking works.

Get a better Internet. Not that tough for pro teams. "mumbai server is shit" > Not TEC's problem or any Indian org's either. Ask Riot to make a better server.

SG server is equivalently shit for Indians. I get 10% packet loss and 90 ping where I am from while I can play with 30-40 ping with 0% packet loss on Mumbai servers.

I never claimed my net was good. I play on my college wifi which has very high download/upload speeds but is horrible in terms of latency and routing.

No need to show proof because I already know Indian pro players got above 70 ping earlier.

Can you name these players? I am trying to put as many facts and numbers to prove my point here.

Rossi factually left Mumbai for Bangalore for the past 2-3 months because his 2022 season ended 2-3 months ago. His background has also changed to his home background makes sense right?

Who are these other Indian pros that have this unimaginably fast internet that breaks the laws of currently available technology and able to provide 40-55 ping from Mumbai?

#44

I can't name you the pros because I don't remember them myself. Also Chennai can't be the only city where you get low ping . I've 3 stacked and got Indians with 35 ping ?
What about other cities like Bangalore if u say Chennai is so different ?

#61
SnooTangerines
1
Frags

Alright I will be honest with you.

You do not understand the Indian culture too well.

Bangalore is a tech hub since the state (Karnataka) passed an IT law very long ago which promoted tech in the city.

A lot of my seniors are doing jobs there but the experience is generally not that great. I can link to you resources -

https://www.reddit.com/r/bangalore/comments/qah511/my_experience_regarding_the_unspoken_but/

https://www.reddit.com/r/bangalore/comments/rrca6b/please_stop_bashing_north_indians/

https://www.reddit.com/r/india/comments/1f0thw/any_tales_from_north_indians_who_grew_up_in_south/

Bangalore and other South Indian cities are hostile towards North Indians which is basically like 70% of the population.

A lot of my seniors have witnessed it firsthand - Taxis refusing to pick up north Indians.
Restaurants refusing to serve people who cannot order in the local language.
Domestic workers and Shopkeepers not trying to help people who do not know the local language.

Chennai and Bangalore are in the same ballpark.

#74
Rebellion2408

See any place which falls in the same coastal line as Chennai will get the same ping as any player from Chennai will get on Singapore. And yeah should be quite in the South of India. So that's why any player who plays from Chennai or in any coastal area or place below Chennai will get 35-40 ms because that is quite closer to Singapore compared to like the rest of India. I don't know to which extent it's true but I live in Chennai so could quite tell

#31
SnooTangerines

Frags

I want you to send 1 screenshot of a player from Mumbai getting 55ms or less ping in SG.

Requirements > The ping should objectively be lower than 55.

and > The player should be confirmed to be staying in Mumbai at the time. Not like Rossi who is in Bangalore (his hometown and close to Chennai).

Do not send me the Rite2Ace tweet or something. Send me in game screenshots where I can see ping in game. In my justification here is a link to Rossi's stream which is confirmed to be from Mumbai (the black paint walls are in his bootcamp)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVD_kCKZtxo

You can very clearly see around 70 average ping.

just move to Chennai you get better ping

IDK what to say but moving to Chennai is not easy mate. It's a city with much less accessibility and options. Moving to Chennai is like moving to a new country but with lesser opportunities. Seems like a dumb statement. Living in Singapore you would probably not understand.

When I personally lived in Chennai for 2 years. Things were not like what you are used to in India. Everything is different. Language, culture, food. Its a huge undertaking for small Indian orgs like Revenant.

Apart from ping to SEA servers, moving to Chennai is an downgrade in every aspect for an Indian org.

Edit: The stream I linked is an really old stream here is an much more recent stream:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ngq0S3RrW4

He is still getting 70 ping.
After around July he just went home since his 2022 season ended.

#38
JiangLi

I can't find you the proofs because I've seen them a lot of ss on vlr only and also see on stream a lot of times

Mumbai > One of the best cities in India, easy connectivity, easy flights, easy communication, you can get all local Indian cuisine here, people actually know Hindi + English.

Chennai > 7th 8th best city in terms of development but only for South Indians. Very far from the homes of most players. Nobody speaks Hindi. Only educated people speak English. Harder to get network around the city + not many opportunities here.

#46
JiangLi

And Bangalore? What about other cities in South where u get low ping ?
Chennai surely can't be the only option

#80

but just take example of Global they have already invested in Mumbai base bootcamp, why would they relocate them self for tournaments with SEA teams which were very rare 2 months ago...even vlt had chennai based bootcamp but they relocated themself because ping diff from mumbai based orgs.

#48
Chad101

A lot of people do not speak Hindi in Chennai and also the fact that Mumbai is a corporate hub makes it a better fit for orgs to be so that they could grow better.

#51
JiangLi
0
Frags

Mumbai is a corporate hub for what ?
A simple Google search show me how Bangalore is tech capital with many international companies and where you get 30-40 ping to SG . Tell me that isn't possible now

#54
Nezko_
0
Frags

It's the silicon valley of india. It's only progressive for startups (generally tech) and its more like a technology hub

#57
Chad101
1
Frags
+

I mean I am from Bangalore and yes it's more or less similar in terms of how established the cities are.
But idk man, except for GE, up until now, 95% of the tourneys that they play are within SA so ig to capitalise on that they had it set up in Mumbai.
And now since they have made significant capital investments there. I dont think they'll shift to Bangalore.
Especially considering the fact that only GE made it to franchise, resulting in other orgs main tourney which they'll play of SG server will be Ascension.
So i don't think they'll shift just bcoz of that.

#60
JiangLi
0
Frags
+

Exactly so they can but they don't want to because they alr spent much on mumbai . I understand that but pushing the narrative of Indians can't get low ping to SG seems bs now
From what i can tell from just a Google search is i can survive in Bangalore with English just fine

#82
SkNirav
0
Frags
+

so you want them to change cities for every tournament??? you can survive but what about orgs who are already in bad financial conditions they can't afford to travel with PCs week in and week out

#88
Chad101
0
Frags
+

As #60 said. It's not really viable to setup a gaming space in another city just for a few tourneys. The ROI just isn't there. And also for the fact that even they know that the skill gap bw SA and SEA isn't that close enough to the extent that it's only the ping that acts as a deciding factor of who's gonna win.

#56
SnooTangerines
4
Frags

Look man, no disrespect but here I have actual evidence linking you streams and asking you to pause the 5 hour stream at any moment and look at the ping.

I have even explained Rossi's location and how it affects ping to SG servers.

While you or these other people who are complaining about ping have not brought any solid evidence to prove that Mumbai gets 55 ping to SG.

In fact you know what? I will bring science into it cause I have been studying tech for the past 3 years.

Distance to Mumbai to SG is 6700KM.

The speed of light in a Vacuum is 300,000KM/sec.
Therefore the speed of light in an optical fibre would be nearly 200,000KM/sec because refractive index of the material.

Therefore light would take 33.5ms to travel from SG to Mumbai. That is already 67ms round trip time that is the mimimum theoretical possible value.

We can also calculate the one way distance.

Valorant works on 128 tick servers so that is around 8ms on the client side and 8 ms on the server side delay added. Total of 16ms.

Accounting for the fact that your game is updating at 200FPS, add another 5ms.

Adding all these numbers up, you are already up to 55ms. This is the theoretical maximum assuming your ISP and network switches are perfect and do not add any delay (which they do btw).

Anything less than 55ms is just theoretically impossible unless for some reason Indonesia and Thailand has different laws of physics and computer science than India.

Bro are you dumb or what ? It all depends on routine of internet. Why are you telling me light speed and distance bs .
I get a better ping to KR servers but i will not get a better ping from KR to SG because routing is shit .
Same way i get less ping to Tokyo servers than an Indonesian because sg routing is good even tho Indo is less distance to Tokyo .
Just accept it dude . Your orgs have the option to move to better cities like Bangalore just like na pros move to Texas but will not do that . Tbh it's fine if you don't move to another city but also dont say you get 70+ ping from Mumbai

What you said is right but routing does matter tho because I get less ping to Mumbai than you probably . Also I looked in SkRossi stream which are more than 2 months old and he was hovering 59- 61 ping.
But I'm not even talking about that . I'm trying to understand why you think Mumbai is the only city from where it's possible to play Val

#71
SnooTangerines
0
Frags

Yes routing matters.

The calculations I showed is for the best possible routing. Anything in real life will be more than this.

Once again, I have linked some Reddit posts for you #61.

Moving to South Indian cities is not easy. Definitely not for an improvement of 30ms ping.

If you want to understand in US terms - Mumbai is like New York of India, well rounded developed city for people from all walks of life.

Bangalore is like California (silicon valley) but worse. Silicon valley is only feasible if you work in tech. For everything else its just too expensive.

Ofc you have factors that I have mentioned in #61.
