Playoffs format is weird.

It seems like 1st seed really fkn matters and teams get a massive advantage if they reach it in groups. There’s less of a chance for an upset from lower teams due to this. There’s always a chance that a team could do well in the other group and still be placed 2nd seed due to the first team being so good. E.g. Xset in group B. To combat this, I think riot should implement a Swiss Stage and abolish the groups system. This way everything is fair and the massive advantage isn’t there.

wait nvm it wouldn’t work since it’s only 8 players from groups I think

for champions i think they should draw groups from a hat or something. seeding matches are dumb imo

That’s exactly the reason why groups are bad. They are random and Swiss stage would remove the randomness

Absolutely not, imagine if we get one group that's like Fnatic, Optic, Loud, DRX, and PRX, while the other group is something like XSET, NIP, KRU, TS, etc. That wouldn't be even at ALL

Version1 probably makes it to LCQ with the system they used this stage, and they dominated their group far more than XSET did. The constant changing of formats that happens is infuriating as a fan.

its wild because of the way 1st seed lets you skip groups and get the points for at least 8th place, if xset get go out in last place at copenhagen, the guard will still qualify to champions despite not winning a single lan match because of 200 points. if fpx get first seed in emea they will have 400 points, meaning they likely get champs even if they dont play a masters match. obviously hypothetical but its a little dumb
